Re: I'm curious if they are trying to get COOLEY RE-SIGNED before camp?
I think I understand the difference between "Superstar" and "Premiere". "Superstar" is someone who plays for Dallas or New England, acts like a jackass calling attention to themselves for any and every little thing they do, or whoever Peter King has a hard-on for. "Premiere" is all the other guys who do thier job and rank in the top 10 at thier position.

just because you CAN free up another 10mill doesn't mean you should. when you restructure older players' base salaries to signing bonus, it just means high deadcap when they finally get released :/.
A TE franchise tag is only 4.5mill this year, and probably won't be much higher next year (unless gates gets a monster deal in the meantime, which is looming). It might even be better to use the space and jettison some dead weight now to give us more real room in the future... |

Re: I'm curious if they are trying to get COOLEY RE-SIGNED before camp?
I understand everyone concerns seeing how the FO assumably mishandled re-signing Dockery before season's end. We did ink Betts in the same scenario and it's also likely that Dockery and his agent thought it would work in thier favor to test the FA market. It could've worked out in our favor too. I don't think Cooley will be as coveted as OL when his time comes to re-sign and thus he'll probably be more than willing to accept a deal (considering negotiations) to stay with the team.

Re: I'm curious if they are trying to get COOLEY RE-SIGNED before camp?
I've never understood why some people don't understand that the Redskins Front Office is not run by Don Corleone. It's not like they just say "I'll make you an offer you can't refuse" and if the player (Cooley in this case) doesn't sign there's a dead horse's head in their bed the next morning. I know there are a bunch of us here who just want us to re-sign every player we have right away. And if we don't we're some awful franchise. But sometimes no matter how good the offer there's only so much you can do. Loyalty is nice, but at what cost.
All that said, I hope we keep Cooley

I keep seeing these things and I keep thinking this is Cooleys 3rd season wouldn't that make him a RFA next year? If you cannot come up with an aggrement slap him with the transition tag or franchise tag
