i really think we need a solid defensive player here but not a small corner... we have to many bg recievers in our division(burress,t.o and stallworth) a defensive end is to risky and really wont provide any immediate impact on nfl olineman. we need a solid run stopper at DT , like the guy from michigan or a solid LB......I personally would take the michigan dt at #6 AND DRAFT adabi from virginia tech in the second round

The Skins have already committed significant cap to the WR position (Moss, Lloyd, and Randle El). The offense will be fine as long as we keep the O-line intact (re-sign Dockery) and Campbell continues to develop. It's a no brainer that we need to draft a pass rusher, and Gaines Adams should be at the top of that list. Imagine how much better our secondary would look with a pass rush coming from the front four. Competent FA cornerbacks like Clements make a boatload these days, so if you want to go that route, be prepared to pay accordingly.

I'd be in agreement if Gibbs hadn't traded so many other draft picks where he could have addressed the defensive sieve more cost effectively, but if he goes offense with the 1st pick, then he'll have to spend huge dollars for multiple defensive free agents. I really feel that a single dominant pass rusher will make our DBs much better than just going out and signing Clements. Darrell Green in his prime would have had a hard time playing with the lack of a pass rush that the current front four is generating.

We should trade down from this spot so that we can still select one of the top flight DTs or CBs available, and add more picks in the meantime.

that is a good point soupermeister. we need to draft a pass rushing DE and then sign clements to a FA deal. how does drafting a offense player in the first help us out on defense i think our offense just needs to develop. let campbell learn the system better.

Did anyone catch the USC - Michigan game? I missed it but I wanted to know how the following players did that the Skins may take:

1.) Alan Branch

2.) Leon Hall

3.) Lamar Woodley

I would love to see Calvin Johnson a Redskin, but its not the best thing for the team, unfortunately we dont have the luxury of drafting the best player in the draft, with all these stupid FA moves the front office has made were forced to pick players for positions that should have been filled years ago. The way I see it, if Calvin Johnson falls in our lap, lets give New England a call, I think they would swap there two first round picks for our top 10 pick(#6), let them pick Dewayne Jarret or Calvin Johnson, we can then use those two picks on LaRon Landry and Paul Posluzny. If not we should use the pick on either Gaines Adams or Alan Branch, whichever of the two is still available. Of course all this is contingent upon us signing Nate Clements, which I honestly believe is all but done, come free agency Nate Clements will be sippin champagne on Redskin 1 trying to figure out ways to spend the large sum of money Snyder just gave him.

By not having sufficient draft choices to build an inexpensive base of solid depth, I agree that the Skins hand will be forced to pass on Johnson, who may be the surest thing in this draft if he declares. Reminds me of two years ago when we let Smoot depart and Gibbs was all but forced to select a CB (Rogers) when both Merriman and DeMarcus Ware were on the board. It's most insulting that Merriman had 17 sacks in 12 games this year while the Redskins had 21 as an entire team in 16 games.

Re: With the 5th Pick, The Redskins Select...

I think we need to get a monster run stopping D-Lineman. Carter really came on at the end of the year as a legitimate pass rusher, however he struggled to stop the run. So, I think the most important thing is that we get a D-lineman who can really clog some holes in the opposing offensive lines, if he can rush the QB, that's great too. Is that guy Adams more of a run stopper or pass pressure guy?

I'm wondering if we can trade that pick down and still get Amobi from Louisville.

I don't know if that was Carter as much as it was the LB behind him. Warrick WHO?

I think it was a combination, Holdman definitely blows, but I don't think Carter is a good run stopper either.
