Gibbs will NEVER trade Portis. No way, no how. First off, he LOVES Portis. Secondly, we'd have to take a big salary cap hit to trade one of our best players. Not gonna happen.

I love idiotic trade rumors that don't give consideration to the salary cap. It's the #1 way to tell if a rumor is just that.
I do not think that the trade will happen but I am not as sure as schneed10 is about that. I have seen stranger thing happen, cap space or not.

The love affair between Gibbs and Portis may have hit a snag or two when Portis was pouting about playing in pre-season games and would not let it go. That along with the way Al Saunders compliments Betts may make this rumor more of a reality than we think.

Re: Portis trade rumor

how about the kid, mario williams from nc state?i do'nt think the skins will trade portis.all of the great redskins teams of the past have had 2 good running backs, and i do'nt think gibbs will change that in the off-season!

Re: Portis trade rumor

If you were a GM, would you trade your #1 pick for a RB coming off major shoulder surgery? We have to do some major re-working of some contracts already existing on the team, another #1 in conjunction with our own would be a bit much, unless the intent would be to trade that pick also. With Betts history of injury problems, we may have to take a long hard look at trading Portis, which I don't think Gibbs would do anyway.

how could you be so certain?

and what would you do, after writing all of this, if he is traded for 1 draft pick?

Because if he is traded that is probably all that we would receive for him

Re: Portis trade rumor

Because The kid is one of our core players, and due t recent behavior by the FO (the contract extention of LB), I don't see the kid being traded unless all of those things are offered

I am hoping that he is not traded either but ,like I said earlier, I have seen stranger things happen...hell...The Colts traded Marshall Faulk when he was a core player and it worked out good for the Colts and Faulk AND the Rams did not have to trade their whole team and waterboys to get Faulk...LB's contract extension has nothing to do with Portis

Re: Portis trade rumor

In my opinion it does. It shows the FOs faithfulness to players that prove their worth. Portis has more than done that

Your opinion is yours and I will respect that butif there is one thing that I have learned in my years of being a football fan it would be that you can never say never. IF and I said IF Portis was to be traded he would not be the best player ever traded in the NFL

Re: Portis trade rumor

Personally I would love to see us get rid of Portis before the next seemingly inevitable season ending injury.

Besides, he's an attention seeking whiner and we'd be better off without him.

I think that you better be running for the hills. I have been here only a couple of weeks and I have learned that you do not say anything about Portis or Campbell on here even if you are dead right these two guys seem to be off limits

That's why I put a smiley at the end.

It puts a seed of doubt into peoples minds about whether I'm being entirely serious or not.

I may have to steal that one from you. I said something about our young QB once and I though the responder was going to find and assinate me

Whether or not stranger things have happened is completely irrelevant, it doesn't change the probabilities that the trade would take place. The chances are slim and none (mostly none).

Marshall Faulk's trade has nothing to do with this, he was traded at a point in his career that allowed the Colts to trade him without a huge cap hit.

You're lending way too much credence to a crappy rumor stating that the Texans MIGHT have interest. If the rumor said the 'Skins were listening, then MAYBE this would even be worth discussing. But the rumor says nothing about the 'Skins knowing about it, being asked about it, or being interested in it.

If you know Gibbs' tendencies, you know he's not going to unload Portis.

Were you even born when Gibbs was coaching the first time to even talk about what Gibbs tendencies are?

Marshal Faulk was not traded at the point of his career when(whatever you were talking about) he was at the height of his career. Were you even born then?

As far as the article is concerned I have not even read it.I just know better than to say that anyone on a 5-11 team is untradable

How do you know who or who not is going to get traded?
