I don't think that RFK would ever be the name even if they did move the field. Another person mention the traffic at FedEx but that seats like 35,000 more people as would the new stadium so the traffic issues would still be a problem. Unless the old site was that much better but anytime your trying to move 95,000 people traffic will always be an issue.
The reason why RFK is a much easier commute is because the metro is walking distance from the stadium. FedEx has a metro station near the stadium, but its like a mile and a half away from it.

You know the Danny would probably make the stadium the same size, but the design would be more fan friendly (no more obstructed veiws) and with the metro access, that would ease the traffic a little.

It would be a great idea back in the city. It would probably be like the Cardinals stadium where the grass is rolled into the dome.

If a new stadium was built the contract for the naming rights with FedEx would be void on the current stadium I am sure. These naming rights contracts all run at least 20 years and most of the stadiums were already old enough that in 20 years they wont be open so I am sure the contracts aren't binding if the team moves.

The rights for the new stadium would then be put up for bid I would imagine.

I wish the new stadium could be smaller, way too many seats in FED EX, the eagles and ravens seat in the 60's i believe, that's more reasonable.

Less seats equals less people who can go. I am dubious they would build one smaller. Then they'd have to rescind season tickets for thousands. Bad news there.

I'm for a stadium in the district, but I don't see Snyder moving anytime soon. I know he's always looking to grow his revenues, so there's no way that any new stadium is a seat less than the 90,000 in Fedex. I also don't think Snyder would build it himself like JKC, and he'll get no money from the NFL because 1) its unnecessary since we're playing in a new stadium and 2) the owners don't really seem to care too much for Snyder.

Ticket prices would go up. They still want to make money. Less tickets would mean they need more profit for each ticket.

Side note:

Did anyone else hear on Mike & Mike on ESPN Radio this morning when Mark Schlareth and Mike Golic were talking about NFL rivalries? Schlareth hates the Raiders and their "arrogant fans" and Golic said he HATED Dallas the most, but the Redskins' fans were the best he'd seen. He said even though the Eagles and Redskins always had a heated rivalry, the fans at RFK were always the most courteous and respectful in the league.

Hey...we're NOTHING like Philly fans for sure.

Re: Redskins could come home to RFK

RFK was a great place to see the Redskins in its day. I can still picture the stands shaking with the old D.C lotto clock in the corner. I went to the last game against the Cowboys and it was a great experience that I will never forget. I wouldn’t mind if they could really fix the place and the Skins moved back. But the whole idea of a dome really scares me. I saw the Skins play inside a dome last year in St. Louis and it SUCKS! I would be so bummed to see the Redskins have there stadium covered. To me its really not good football when it’s 30 degrees outside (witch I think is perfect football weather )and you go into a heated building to play. I’m all for moving back to the District. But keep at least 80 thousand seats and what ever happens no domes please. Screw the S.B. One S.B would not even make it worth watching the Redskins play there home games inside.

I was there at that game as my first Skins game. A friend and I were offered free tix at the last minute. One of my all time best skins memories. RFK was amazing.

Yeah, football in dc is supposed to be played outdoors. Only if they promised not to close the roof w/ the exception of a SB.

Yeah I think the roof stays open the majority of the time, even in the cold, but I could be wrong. I see no problem with the Dome, as long as it is very loud, and grass. No turf.
