Re: Bearish Season Prediction
I'd agree that our LBs aren't looking great in coverage. While I WILL defend Holdman's run stopping performance, I would think Rocky would fare much better in coverage.
Is it just me or is Dallas's line nowhere NEAR as much of a concern for them as we all thought it would be?

Re: Bearish Season Prediction
I think a lot of that comes from GW too. He doesn't count on his front four a whole lot to apply pressure, hence the reason he calls all these exotic blitz packages.

Also Blache, who has in the past said that the "sack" is an overrated stat. It's about disruption, in his opinion

Re: Bearish Season Prediction
On Dallas:
We played terrible but take away our INT thrown to Roy Williams on the 1 yard line which resulted in a 99 yard TD drive for Dallas and we have a 3 point ballgame with us playing like crap and the 'Boys manhandling us. Just think if we played average instead of terrible. The same goes for the Vikings game and the Giants game. if you take away the INT, and give us a TD (eliminating their 99 yard drive, then you should probably take away Rock's long run...same senario. I guess my point is, I'm worried that the way they did play against vikes, dallas and giants WAS average. I don't think you can discount the domination that occurred against the 'boys and g-men. On the bucs: I didn't say they lost to "good teams". I said they lost 3 games. If we're arguing then we need to make sure we don't put words in the other's mouth/post. semantics, but you stated that they beat three crappy teams and then lost to three "real teams". The implication is that, phili won because of an advantageous early schedule and as they played better teams....so while you are correct you never used the word "good" you did use the word "real". On finding our form: Weren't the Redskins 2-2? that aside, we frequently have troubles with mcnabb and westbrook. like the giants and dallas, its likely they find their form against the skins... Just as likely we'll find our form against them. My point was EVEN with Bledsoe (now benched) and the TO injury, WE still got manhandled. only close due to Rock's runback. what has changed, beside's the cowboy's new QB who wasn't flustered by Carolina's much better D? We played terrible but take away our INT thrown to Roy Williams on the 1 yard line which resulted in a 99 yard TD drive for Dallas and we have a 3 point ballgame with us playing like crap and the 'Boys manhandling us. Just think if we played average instead of terrible. The same goes for the Vikings game and the Giants game. The bucs are ok. we have a shot...they did just beat philly. (who by the way you just claimed lost to 3 "Good teams". I didn't say they lost to "good teams". I said they lost 3 games. If we're arguing then we need to make sure we don't put words in the other's mouth/post. Weren't the Redskins 2-2? that aside, we frequently have troubles with mcnabb and westbrook. like the giants and dallas, its likely they find their form against the skins... Just as likely we'll find our form against them. fair enough. lets hope... on scoring: St Louis is averaging 23 pts/game. We're averaging 20 pts/game closer than i thought (as are the stats), i would say, that 3 pts is not insignificant in the NFL...add three and change, and we beat minn and tenn.

Re: Bearish Season Prediction
St. Louis would destroy us right now, imagine tryin to stop bulger with our D-line and Secondary, he's only thrown 1 pic!!! We would at least be able to run the ball against them, but that has proven not enough since we fall behind so often.

Re: Bearish Season Prediction
I wish i were kidding, but i think we are looking at 4-12 or 5-11...
hopefully Portis will dominate, and some of these predictions wont come true...fact is, the MOST we'll ever get out of brunell is 2 td and 225 (which is a large step up from current production)- and he cant do that week in, week out.[/quote] Good greif. Can't get more depressing than that. Our Secondary is back now, in full force, so I'm not sure I agree completley with this. We have Lloyd and Randal El to pick up slack for Moss, and Betts is a GREAT running back if Portis isn't well. We had the bye and have been able to rest and get heads screwed on straight. Untill the Dallas game is over, I'm not going to predict a damn thing. If they come out and have game on this Sunday, I think it's a whole new team and I'll believe again that we have a shot at the playoffs. |

Re: Bearish Season Prediction
No certainly not insignificant. St. Louis is one of those teams who I would argue will be better on offense come the years end then us. But compare us to most teams, and I bet we come up favorably.

Re: Bearish Season Prediction
my 2 cents, take it or leave it...
there have been some good points brought up on both sides of the argument, and with 9 games left, 7-2 may not be enough for the playoffs. However, I think you'll see a vastly improved defense with Springs back, and Wright/Rumph relegated back to 3 and 4 corners, and that depends on where Troy Vincent is on the field. And with Vincent on the field, you are going to see Archuleta and Taylor be able to play more of their games. While the LBs and DLine have been shaky at best, I can see improved play, especially if the injury bug finally leaves the DLine alone. Offensively, the whole Brunell/Campbell argument is mute, as Brunell gives us the best chance to win now. If there is no Moss, that means Lloyd, ARE and Patten step up, and perhaps Brunell will stop zeroing in on Moss constantly once he returns. Looking at the last 9 games, while 7-2, 8-1 and 9-0 are a pipe dream, they are feasible. I wouldn't dub it impossible, but impractical is more along the lines of thinking. With Dallas, the odds of 2 road wins in a row are quite rare, so that is a plus going into Sunday. Philly, coming off the bye, will be tough to beat at home. Especially if a 100% healthy Stallworth takes the field. Tampa is a 2 headed monster, as they've won their last 2 at home...however, they come off a short week against division rival Carolina. Home against Carolina, Atlanta and Philly will really be a test of might. If we can scrap 2 wins here, consider us lucky. 2 weeks on the road will most likely lead to 1 loss. I'm gonna say lose to Saints, beat Rams, as their defense much weaker than New Orleans. Which leads us to the G-Men on New Years weekend. I'm going to go out on a limb, and say the G-Men will be gearing up for the playoffs, and won't want to lose any starters. I'd love to see 9-0, but would be quite comfy with 5-4, as it would show improvement over the first 7 games, and lead us into 2007. While no playoffs would be a great disappointment, a .500+ records in the 2nd half would give hope to a vastly improved 2007, when we will see Campbell start.

Re: Bearish Season Prediction
I would like to add, that i have seen the Redskins play once in my life and that was a victory against the Seahawks a few years back. So the Skins are 1-0 when I am in the Stadium, and I am coming to the Falcons game, so my streak will continue and so that is at least one more win.
Buy the way I am looking for lower bowl tickets first or second teir on stubhub. Any tickets I should avoid, some say restricitve veiwing etc... A little help Also I will be starting a thread closer to the date to find out where I can tailgate with any of you. Do I need a tailgating pass to join the party or is that something seperate?
