Re: Something Positive To Take From Tonight...

I'll agree about the miscommuncation. It's just discouraging that most of the other great teams in the league had their starters, march down, score, and then be waving to mom after that first series. B. Lloyd made the type of play that I expect him to however. And if it wasn't for that one miscommunication, we were going to march right in there for a touchdown.

The first team defense looks unstoppable. GW had some great schemes and I'm sure they were mainly vanilla. I agree with TAFKAS in that the Bengals definitely wanted to do something for the home crowd. Two flea flickers in a preseason game? Whatever helps you sleep at night bitches.

I AM however, truly concerned about our depth at offensive line and the secondary. I did keep a close eye on Pucillo and he didn't let anyone through, so he might be a decent backup, if anything.

Rocky McIntosh is going to be a monster. Without having any help up front to stuff the blockers, he was everywhere. Holdman looked good with the first team, but Rocky is going to be far better.

Good morning dmek. Did I miss something though about Wright? I saw him get burned on that corner route, but otherwise I thought he played a good game.

Another positive, is that Brunell was spreading the ball around hit moss, cooley, and lloyd. Moss and lloyd both for big gains. Though sometimes it looked as if he threw some ducks, I think it was a safe out from getting a int and he just put it in the ground to prevent the int. I hope??

attempts going downfield, real nice. we saw a tiny glimpse of what is to come.

also, did the skins use any motion? I mean, I don't think they had any pre-snap movement at all...that tells me we were holding A LOT back, so I'm not sorry worried about the lackluster performance.

I'm not worried either. I'm sure the second teamers will come around though. They damn well better. I was praying for them to put Lumsden in the game when Carter acted like he was auditioning for the lead in Breakin 3 The Return of Turbo every time he touched the ball. Portis getting hurt was unfortunate but he should be fine.

1. B. Lloyd's catch.. Damn!
2. 1st string defense looked tough
3. Taylor looks like he is going to destroy the NFC this year.
4. Campbell Campbell Campbell. The future looks bright.
5. I don't have to listen to Collinsworth again anytime soon.

Nice point, goritz. No motion at all. Lots of formations, but they didn't get into that Saunders shift thing. And that is a big deal. And I agree with GoSkins that beyond a certian point, it was just helmet to helmet with no scheming out there. It's early yet!

I also want to give a shout out to none other than Derrick Frost. He was booming his punts last night.

AND Hall made a kick!

Re: Something Positive To Take From Tonight...

Another positive: however much all of us (or some of us) are worried, no one takes this stuff more seriously than Joe Gibbs. Did you see the postgame presser? He looked like someone had shot his dog or something. No Mr. Friendly Coach Joe there--all he wanted to do was get home and look at the tapes and start fixng things. ANy worries about overconfidence and complacency are gone (if they ever were around). Gibbs sweats the details; we'll turn all this into positives.

dmek and I saw the same thing: Kenny Wright getting spread open and buttered. There were at least three other completions against him while was covering Henry -- kinda made Kenny look like Henry's bitch.

Then again, it was a bad night for everybody.

F*** it man I am so vanilla out. Why cant we come out and say you know what we are about this, here is the weapons we have try to stop us. We are the baddest mo fo's around just come out the gate swinging. Damn preseason and injuries prevent that. I hope we are the most aggressive team and just drop bombs on defenses.

Vanilla now. Vanilla A-bombs later. Wright,Reed-and anyone slipping Be very afraid.
