Re: Biggest threats in the NFC

Well I have to say our Division with the signing of LA the giants front 7 look pretty scarry right now, I don't see 1 team in our division that doesn't has Playoff potential.

Hey even the Eagles who in paper are the worst team in the division could be a division winner in another like the central and those are 6 games for both our schedulles who ever survives those games goes to the playoffs.

A couple of weeks ago the Eagles apparently had some interest, and I think the Raiders too. But haven't heard anything since

the eagles could still make a deal for javon walker... which would definately make them scarier.

Scarier, but not scary.

Re: Biggest threats in the NFC

I believe our biggest threats year in and year out come from our division. We went out and signed two good receivers and the Giants signed two to three corners and safeties. And now a pretty decent LB. Cowboys upgraded at a position that enables them to be more explosive on offense and the Eagles, well Donovan, westbrook, and now a better defensive line with a pretty good 2nd level defense. I live in Charlotte, and the Panthers are way over rated. They benefited from a pretty light schedule and played a Falcons team that just gave up last year. The only other team that may be good out of our division, Falcons, Rams, Cards may be pretty decent w/ Edge and those receivers. But our threats are in the NFC east. Take care of business in our division, and everything else will fall into place.

Very true...there won't be three East teams in the playoffs, we need to win to ensure a playoff birth. We can't play and HOPE for a wild card, although a WC will likely be from our division, as usual.

Re: Biggest threats in the NFC

I'm not too worried about the Giants. Someone mentioned that the front seven is scary but that's assuming the addition of LA proves fruitful. Eli looked like he took a step backwards in his development towards the end of last year. Toomer, Strahan and Barber are no spring chickens: I said this about Barber for the last 3 years and he always shows me up. Plaxico seems to play when he wants to.

Also, all of these new guys on defense better be able learners if they want to function smoothly as a team when the season starts. Otherwise, they'll have a bunch of out of position DB's loking at each other shrugging their shoulders as CLEMP blows by 'em.

Dallas could have the worst team ever but they would still give us fit, same with the Eagles.
Carolina's D shows up every game but their offensive doesn't.
Tampa has to rely on Simms performing spectacularly more often than not.
Atlanta will be a better team if Vick realizes that he's not going to make things happen every play. Patience, Mike, patience.
Seattle has already heard their "Give Me One Moment In Time" song. The loss of Hutchison will sting as will Jurevicious.

Re: Biggest threats in the NFC

Chris Simms plays a lot better when he doesn't have Cornelius Griffin and Sean Taylor to deal with. Getting sufficient pressure on him was all we needed to beat the Buccaneers in the first matchup last year. It didn't happen, and he picked us apart. I believe Tampa Bay is a force to be reckoned with.

Now, fill me in on the Giants -- who did they pick up in the secondary? Obviously they were concerned with how Brunell and Moss carved them up in the second matchup last year.

Re: Biggest threats in the NFC

I hate Chris Simms more than I hate most players in the league. That little "bring it on" gesture made me want to throat-punch him.
