Re: Election Day

From a European (but still personal) perspective:

If you have the choice of one clown or the other - why not take the funny one?

In all seriousness: I, too, would have preferred Bernie. Who, speaking now really European, would here probably be viewed as slightly left from the middle, but far away from the extreme left.

Re: Election Day

With Bernie in there I would have been working for free. A couple of my clients mentioned that they might shut their doors if he became president. He has no respect at all for entrepreneurs or private enterprise.

Bernie is a commie and somehow thinks the federal government could pay for everything and even admitted he would raise taxes to pay for his programs.

White America shows how powerful it is yet again. In 4 years we're either gonna be the greatest country on Earth again or we will have been set back for the foreseeable future.

Nope, just a look at the numbers show who propped him up. Young, old, college educated and non-college grad white people were solidly in favor of him. Hence my statement. More specifically, white males were heavily in his favor. I guess the fact that he's an old brah means he's on our side (FYI I too am a white male, most likely to be one of the least-affected people as a result of this election). He even had a solid percentage of the female vote. I guess they don't care about the fact that he bases the quality of a woman on her appearance.

meh, people...driven by the outrage porn the media pushes 24/7... are obsessed about race. Guess what? the race exit polls are in line with the last election. Actually Trump slightly won more of the African American vote over Romney and won 30% of the latino vote. 30% of the latino vote, think about that for a second.

The media is not paying attention to the stat that always tells the winner....Who won the "independent" vote. This bullshit has nothing to do about race. Americans went to vote period.

Why is the country seem so divided ? Blame your bullshit fucking president Obama who sat on you hands the last 6 years. I tell you folks are so bias they refused to blame this god aweful leader. Its actually pathetic at this point. fucking pathetic

Other than my taxes/insurance going up as a result of Obamacare he really hasn't had a personal impact on me, and my attitude on the taxes/insurance is that they would've gone up anyways (my insurance rates were going up prior to Obamacare as well so I'm not bitter about that, one way or another somebody is going to get theirs at your expense).

For me the main concerns about Trump is his stated plan to undo as much of Obama's executive actions as he can. If he repeals Obamacare and replaces it with something better I am fine with that. But repealing it and doing nothing is unacceptable.

The other strong point is climate change, he has literately stated that global warming is a Chinese hoax. By going lax on the environmental regulations who knows how many years he will set back and you really have to consider the fact that scientists say we are almost at the point where continued inaction will make it impossible to reverse the decline. If he backs out of the Paris treaty and basically tells companies to go wild it could be digging too large of a hole for future generations to take care of the Earth.

My final thing that I am semi-passionate about is immigration/lgbt/African American rights. We have started making progress towards equality for most and if Trump plans to repeal the marriage equality bill well then he's going to piss off a ton of people. And what do people do when they're pissed off over a lack of equal treatment? They riot.

Immigration is a touchy subject but I support stronger border enforcement. I don't think a wall is the answer though especially considering tunnels are becoming a very common method to smuggle drugs and people over the border. The idea that Mexico will pay for a wall is ludicrous too.

I don't really have a choice but to give him a shot and hope things work out for the better but I don't see it happening. Already seeing stories about him electing CEO's of companies to cabinet positions and I absolutely fail to see how private sector leaders would have any public interests at heart. We'll see though.

Re: Election Day

If Bernie Sanders had gotten the Dem nod, I think he would have had a better shot at defeating Trump. Don't ask me why, I just feel he seemed more accepted by the left than Hillary Clinton and probably would have carried more of the black and hispanic vote than Clinton.

Trump is the anti-establishment and a lot of people found that attractive in the candidate. A lot of people were intrigued by a businessman occupying the white house. Not only that, a lot of people understand that the trade agreements are fucked up and Obamacare is anything but affordable healthcare. Both need to be fixed.

As far as the bigot and racist comments, believe whatever the media wants you to believe. I'm neither and voted for Trump. Hillary has been in politics for 30+ years and hasn't done anything worthwhile for this country.

Re: Election Day

All I can pray for is the status quo. I can get over someone not having my ideals, but he is just a straight bad person. That's the mind boggling thing to me.

Every election in the past has me waking up, life not changing much, putting my pants on one leg at a time... this feels different. I feel like truly EVERYONE will be touched in a negative way. I hope he proves me wrong...

Re: Election Day

As a registered Dem I was never loving Hillary. Trump is in now we all need to rally around him and see what he can do. He really needs a strong group around him to help guide him.

This country certainly needs a change is Trump the answer, not sure, but at least it will be a new way of looking at how things are done.

If Hillary was elected it just been status quo and quit honestly that is exactly what this country doesn't need anymore.

With that said good luck Mr. President and lets make America great again!

Re: Election Day

Trump is a bad person and yet the Clinton's take money from places that are despicable to women and gays. Mrs. Clinton was friends with Robert Byrd who was a Klansmen. He used the N word right up until he died and she called him a friend. She made a long sappy video about a former domestic terrorist. She also didn't originally want equal rights for gays, then backtracked. . Oh...black males are "predators" according to her. But hey, I'd expect nothing less from a Barry Goldwater girl. She has a used car salesmen smile, questionable character, has the FBI breathing down her neck and can't be trusted.
