I think like the teams themselves we shouldn't look ahead to the next opponent until wednesday

Yep Wednesday is when we look ahead. Nothing wrong with savoring that win just a bit either. Big win.

To see our first round picks from the last two years workout so well gives me great pleasure. Seahawks got Okung and Curry, we got Williams and Orakpo. I think we can check the win column.

Not necessarily. Curry was always thought of as an AJ Hawk type player. High floor, modest ceiling. On top of that last year he was playing out of position when Totupu went down. Okung right now just got a little unlucky with an ankle sprain, I doubt it will be a problem down the road. Keep in mind this is very early for all four players in what should be a very long career.

With that said we did get the better players at both Linebacker and Tackle. My only concern is weather or not Williams early success will go to his head, part of the reason he's so good right now is due to the fact that he had to work hard to help shore up a relatively uncertain draft status. Sometimes he was projected to go as late as the second round. Luckily Shanahan isn't the type of coach to let such things slide so he should be fine long term.

Re: Williams handles his first test

I was watching Trent about 75% of the game, and I got to say that it looks like we got a great player there, for at least the next 10 years. He'll learn the moves of DeMarcus Ware better for next time. Thats what TW is, is a great learner. He gets beat on one play and the next play he knows to never get beat in that way by that player again.

My only questions/concerns with Trent is; Why didn't he just lay out that DB or LB during that screen to Cooley? And he has to learn the snap count better with the whole false starting thing, he's a rookie, he'll learn, but he should be smarter about it.

I'm sure he'll get this, but hey the fact that he only had this happen once, while having to block one of the best pass rushers in the league (if not THE best), is not too shabby.

Re: Williams handles his first test

Id be careful to put him in the hall of fame or pro bowl already. Silverback had a great coming out party, but to say he is a better player than Okung after 1 game is premature.

Lets give it a couple years like we should give other draft picks. I mean before the start of this past off season I heard alot of "dont call Thomas or Kelly a bust yet, give them one more year."

I thought Okung was the better prospect, but Silverback wasnt far off. I think what bothered me was the fact he was a bonafied bad ass at RT in college, but when he moved to the coveted LT position, he didnt show that same dominance in school. So when people started talking about the draft and prospect when Silverback's name was brought up, people stated :"why spend a top 5, or 10 pick for that matter, on a RT?" So I know I had concerns because its a viable question. Buuuuut Silverback at LT has been absolutely no problem at LT which is great. I believe he is gonna be good and you gotta love his attitude. I think the Skins made a great pick.

Nothing wrong with erring on the side of caution, I'm talking about some of the more outrageous criticisms we heard about him.

Re: Williams handles his first test

I keep looking at the thread title and it seems to me like it says "Williams handle his first test" not "Williams prepares Canton speech"

Can't be anything but pleased with his first performance. Let's see now if he can keep it up against Mario Williams
