re: Updated: Browns Select WR Josh Gordon in 2nd Round
I say why not? We passed up his center in the draft he seemed to be clamoring for, why not appease RGIII....good morale, familiar target, and the kid just looks, well good. I'm in favor.

Wasnt Gordon kick out of 2 schools, Utah and Baylor? I would say no based just on that.
Hankerson was a bad ass coming out of Miami. His senior year was impressive.

Just curious, why is drafting Josh Gordon not a realistic option in your opinion?

All very true but i would say Gordon is probably the better "prospect" in that he has more natural ability and likely more upside.

But a lot of baggage and not exactly a good kid.

I agree with the first part. We don't need troublemakers in our locker room, it's bad enough having two very talented players who have made extremely poor choices that will hang consequences over their head for the rest of their careers.

The fact we're debating this is baffling to me. This guy is not an elite prospect. He may have been a good college player somewhat and have some upside but why the hell does that mean we should use another pick on him? He really isn't a better option than most of what we already have and there are obvious risks.

I guess the Skins have to consider the draft picks they won't have in 2013 as well. Maybe snaggng Gordon in the supplemental draft gives them better value; a player more likely to start as suppose to just praticing and playing teams. Character issues are always a concern but, I won't dissapointed whichever way the team decides to go.

re: Updated: Browns Select WR Josh Gordon in 2nd Round
I think our sub-par WR production over the last X years has a lot to do with our poorish QB performance. Let's see what RGIII can do with what reasonably looks like at least a decent corp or WRs that we already have. Good QB performance can make average WRs look like all-pros. Protect the QB to give him time to work through progressions and there will be an open WR somewhere. Make the throw and magically that WR is better already. And it didn't cost us a draft pick.
What everyone forgets is that the draft pick can be used on a position next year that we actually need to really improve. Not on a position that we already put resources into and have yet to even see on the field whether that has paid off. |

re: Updated: Browns Select WR Josh Gordon in 2nd Round
I'm only convinced we have 3 WR on the roster who will be on the team past this season (Hankerson, Garçon and Morgan) so no harm in scouting him. The question will be if we draft and develop him will he be ready to be an impact player in 2013, which is when his draft pick will impact us. Will he be better than Moss, Armstrong or Robinson in 2013 and most importantly, is he past his character issues?
