Don't like it. Remember the missed kicks we suffered through before Forbath. It was dismal. Plus now we can look forward to turning every extra point into an ass clenching experience.

Thank you Mr. Forbath for your service.

You were serviceable.

Im not against releasing Kai,but this guy doesnt sound any good to me either?
This preseason, Hopkins made three of five field goal attempts with a long of 27.Thats not very good.Yeah his kickoffs were good but we need the points. Most of our drives stall short of the endzone,we need someone who can get us points.

Just wanted to say that I completely agree.

While Kai Forbath didn't seem to have as strong a leg as other kickers, he was very accurate.

I seriously hope that the Redskins haven't completely screwed themselves by letting Kai go.

Re: Redskins release Kai Forbath, sign Dustin Hopkins

Some teams have carried 2 kickers.. We are carrying a QB that no one would let near 2 miles of the field for risk of a catastrophic injury so why not cut RG3, keep Cobra Kai and sign Hopkins? Seems like a more robust approach at least until a top tier guy could be signed later.

Re: Redskins release Kai Forbath, sign Dustin Hopkins

Forbath's lack of long range on FGs also did him in.

I was a KF supporter, but I don't have a big problem with rolling the dice on a younger guy with bigger upside. Especially one that should be able to consistently put kickoffs through the back of the end zone.

Exactly!
Kai had a good FG percentage because most of his kicks were short.
He did not make one 50+ yard FG all of last year.

While I'm not ready yet to say the switch Hopkins was a good move, I will say that so far, I was impressed on Sunday with the way he kicked.

Seeing that one kick go deep into the seats helped get me on board. That 46 yard field goal looked great. He seems like he's a competitive kid too. As long as he doesn't have any weird consistency issues, I'd say that's one more position that is fixed for now..

Welp, this move paid off big time this weekend.

46 yard field and 3 of 4 touch backs? Good stuff

Re: Redskins release Kai Forbath, sign Dustin Hopkins

The difference in leg strength was obvious with the way the ball jumped off his leg on the FG.
