We are going to have our handful with the chargers.

Their Oline is average or less. Between that and the lack of preseason play of Herbert, I think our D will stifle their offense. Not sure about their D vs our O. That will tell us something about our season.

Plus they have a whole new coaching staff. They may have some kinks to work out across the board.

I think the first half will be as you say but am curious to see how both teams look after halftime when they can make adjustments and the players get settled in.

I think our staff last year excelled at adjustments. Their staff is entirely new. I do think we are lucky to get them 1st game. They are a team that will gell over the first 3 or 4 weeks.

Re: Predictions and Projections 2021 WFT Results

1 vs Chargers W tough game, but if our Oline can handle their Dline, I have us coming on top. I like our Dline vs their Oline, and especially Chase Young in his second year, fully healthy (we kinda forgot but he wasn't last year, dealing with a hip injury in camp, then the groin), vs a rookie LT. Could definitely go both ways though, they have a good team.

2 vs Giants W running game will be key in this one, I like their secondary, but ultimately I think our D helps us come out on top of a close defensive game.

3 @ Bills L first road game, first loss, nothing to freak out about, but the Bills are tough to move the ball on, hopefully we can feel good about how close a game it was.

4 @ Falcons W I say we blow them out. I like Deion Jones but a part from him the D is suspect, heck Fabian Moreau is their starting right CB. I say our secondary keeps Calvin Ridley under check and we run away with it.

5 vs Saints W tough defensive game again, I still like the Saints defense (that's a LB squad...), but with Michael Thomas out at least 5 weeks, I don't see how we don't F either Taysom Hill and/or Winston up.

6 vs Chiefs L they lost some players on D, but we're not there yet.

7 @ Packers W I have us pulling the upset in this one. I know Rodgers is coming of an MVP season, but don't tell me the mess in GB has zero influence in their locker room, as of now they have 2 rookies in their starting OL, and I think with a Fitzmagic day our offense can score on them.

8 @ Broncos L coming off a big game we slip and lose this one against a tough defense.

We reach our week 9 bye week 5 and 3, feeling good about who we are, and having survived a tough stretch.

10 @ Buccaneers L again, not there yet, and impressive defense.

11 @ Panthers W blow out win.

12 vs Seahawks W love Russell Wilson, but they still haven't fixed their Oline, lost KJ Wright on defense, and are starting a 4th round pick at CB. Close win at home.

13 @ Raiders W still not impressed by that offense, and Ngakoue is not a scary enough addition to change this game in my view.

14 vs Cowfucks L
I have us splitting it with Dallas, 2 tough games, we slip at home coming off a strong winning streak in the first one.

15 @ Eagles W Eff the birds, new HC, suspect young QB, aging OL (side note I like that they are finally starting Samoan-Australian former rugby player Jordan Mailata at RT, he's fun to watch, cool story).

16 @ Cowpukes W We get back at them after in a close over time win.

17 vs Eagles W exciting clobbering of a division rival, 11 and 5, we clinch the division in front of pumped up crowd.

18 vs Giants L not much to play for in this one, Rivera doesn't sit starters because he wants his guys on a roll for the playoffs, but a few mental mistakes has us lose this final game in a frustrating way, and a bit worried going into the wild card round.

11 and 6 wins the division for us.

Re: Predictions and Projections 2021 WFT Results

I predict there will be a lot of close games, and a couple blowouts (not in our favor though) but for the most part some games we will score more points than the other team and some games we won't.

Don't be too dimissive of their oline, they spent a lot this off season to fix it. Their new LT , Slater, basically built his draft reputation from stonewalling Chase Young when he was at Ohio and I believe they signed the FA All Pro Centre(Lindsley?) away from the Packers

Re: Predictions and Projections 2021 WFT Results

The upside to that it is they sat their starters out of the PS, new scheme, new coaches and a long distant trip to an early East coast game. Their O line may take a few weeks to gel but they could be very good

I'm not saying their offensive line won't be improved, but we also played a LOT of good offensive lines and you can't block them all. Between Young/Payne/Allen/Sweat, the Chargers don't have Pro Bowlers all the way across the line. SOMEONE is going to be able to generate pressure. It's all on our LBs.

Bold predictions:

1. Logan Thomas leads us in receptions
2. Double digit sack totals for Sweat and Chase, Sweat leads the team
3. We will make the playoffs

I'm not sure what to make with this one:
-Is it a good thing, because our pass offense was explosive, our speedster guys were scaring defenses, getting double teamed, leaving a lot of the fun part to Thomas who found a great connection with Fitz ?
-Or is it a bad thing, because our pass offense was putrid, our WRs were kept on check, and the only one Fitz connected with was our TE ?
