Re: WTF thread

Sports Illustrated laid off half their employees in one day? A company that big, did it like that? That's a selfish as fuck move. Laying off that many people doesn't sneak up on you.

Personally, I never had a subscription to the actual physical magazine, but I stopped visiting their page altogether when Peter King decided after 20ish years of having no problem saying Redskins, he was all of the sudden "woke". How fucking convenient. He is the worst kind of coward. Waits until it's a thing, then all of the sudden wants to pretend that he is a Native American activist.

Side note - Being a writer/columnist seems like an awful job. Not because the work sucks, but the threat of being laid off would be terrible. There are a million ways to get your sports nowadays, but it's not possible to have a million successful companies to pay the writers.

I still sub to the magazine but only because when my sub runs out they send mailers offering 1/2 year subs for super cheap, like 20/30 a year. Good bathroom reading material for me.

Obviously they're super hurting if they laid off that many people. And yeah def. a dick move. It's the state of print media nowadays though.

I had a subscription between the ages of 8-12, that was a long time ago late 60's to early 70's. I am kind of shocked what some of the magazines that have been around since then have changed. Most have shrunk in size while now being 50% ads and pushing a liberal agenda. I am old enough to remember when most of the media whether in print or broadcast was politically neutral.

I would tend to agree if the guy lived in a Vietnamese neighborhood. Decades ago I worked at a place that had quite a few Vietnamese guys, some of the stuff they heated up at lunch time flat out reeked. They must have been eating rotten fish. Another thing they pretty much ate everything. Saw a guy bring in a cooked chicken, still with the head and feet on it.

When I was a kid, sometimes there would be Vietnamese or Korean people at the Park having a Picnic and they would be cooking Kim hi...

Re: WTF thread

Had a 3.1 earthquake hit my area in upstate NY at 6:43 this morning. Scared the shit outta me. It was this big rumble, sounded like a train was crashing into my house, lasted for about 3-4 seconds. Walls were shaking and I was legit freaked out, I looked out my window expecting to see a big accident, a few minutes later I started getting texts about an earthquake.

I used to live in Southern California close to the San Andreas fault. Earthquakes were so common there a 3.1 probably wouldn't even get anyone's attention. I was at work close to the 1987 Whittier quake, now that was a nasty one. I can understand someone not used to them wondering what the hell is happening.

Re: WTF thread

So many questions with this Ahmaud Arbery killing... why did it take 2 months for these dopes to be arrested, and why didn't they just call the police to begin with?

From what I read...1. Obviously a racist act 2. I believe there is a connection between prosecutors Office and the family (wtf) that committed the murder...as in they was a working relationship in the past or something?

Glad the feds got involved...

It definitely smells fishy but now with the publicity it's gotten it seems to me now they've went too far the other way also,I dont see how you can charge both men with murder. And without knowing what was said between the 3 people on the scene,I wonder why he charged the guy with the shotgun?
I would think the charge would be manslaughter for the guy who shot him and not sure what the charge would be for the other guy.Charging them both with murder would not get a guilty verdict from me,manslaughter would.

I thought this was worse than the Aubrey killing, these no knock warrants are bullshit, this stinks to high heaven.Police are saying they knocked and announced but I call bullshit,of course there were no bodycams recording
This just screams coverup by the police like they tried to do with the same kind of raid here in Houston, almost the exact circumstances as this killing

The Taylor killing was just unbelievable. Taylor was a young EMT. She and her boyfriend were asleep in their bed. They heard someone breaking in the front door and thought it was a robbery. The boyfriend fired at the front door and then the police fired 20 shots into the bedroom killing Taylor who was unarmed. No drugs in house and neither had a criminal record.

The Police had a “no knock” warrant, so they made no warning, just busting down the door. How is a person asleep supposed to know it’s the police or a robber if they say nothing?? This is a major FU and reminds me of the case in NY were the police broke into an old veterans house, after the Marine vet had accidentally set off his medical alert monitor. You live alone, you accidentally set off your medical alert and the. End up getting tasered and then shot twice?? WTF?
