you've gotta get the kid used to higher pitch counts, longer season aka so that he doesn't throw his arm out or get so rattled he can't get it done (JC style)

what's the rush? put him in the majors so that there's possibly/likely solid pitching every 5 outings? so that they can make the playoffs?

so he can get used to the way things are done up there. what the hitters are all about. and with the way he throws, unless he comes from the Nolan Ryan school of pitching, he probably will not have a long career

First of all, I was far more irritated that they booed him when he was being introduced. Also, you could just not cheer. People didn't have to boo, it's not really that difficult.

I refuse to boo my home team (I have once in my life) and nothing productive can come of that. It's ridiculous. He had one blown save in 2 chances and everyone's booing him. As soon as he threw a ball after being introduced, the crowd was all over him. It was embarrassing and I can guarantee that it didn't help him perform better, so what's the f'ing point.

Also, true to form, no one showed up yesterday, just like I said would happen. The O's set a record for lowest attendance in the history of Camden Yards last night. I'm so shocked that all of those classy people who came out to boo Mike Gonzalez didn't show up for the 7th game of the season. F O's fans who don't want to do anything but complain.

It's mostly a financial decision. Holding Strasburg in the minors until a specified date (which the article states 20 days, so anytime after April 28th, most likely middle to the end of May) will allow the Nats to avoid salary arbitration and free agency one extra year. Plus this will give Strasburg some time to work out some issues he had in Spring Training, mainly his velocity from the stretch.

Especially when Scott Boras is his agent. The O's did similar things with Matt Wieters. It's just makes good sense in baseball, unless you're the Rays.

They held Longoria in the minors and then extended him as soon as he came up. 1 month in AA/AAA ball didn't make that kid a better player, you don't play service clock games with a guy you're extending anyway, that wasn't the best move in the world, but it worked out fine.

Same article I posted above mentioned how San Fran screwed the pooch with Tim Lincecum. Had they waited a week longer, they would have paid him about 700k this year. Instead, he gets about $9 million.

I used to be an O's fan, but under the current ownership they have really been torn apart with bad trades. Now I root for the Nats and like the way Rizzo does things. They still need a better bullpen, though.
