I'm not sure how much better he makes them though.
They must think he is somewhat of a clear update, you don't give up a 2nd, 4th and 6th to have a good back up, or just fot camp competition's sake, do you?

Yep, I'm sure they do. I don't.

Time will tell.

Oh I'm with you, I think they definitely overpaid. But they must think they didn't (obviously). But even if he turns out to be Tom Brady, at the point in time where they made the trade he wasn't worth that IMO.

Yeah, Darnold turns the ball over more, fumbles more, has a lower overall completion percentage, a lower career QBR, and a worse W/L record as a starter. The only argument for him is that he has potential that could not be realized under the previous Jets leadership. Apparently the new Jets regime does not see it that way, but the Panthers do.

Spoke with a few sources - Washington won’t be calling on Teddy Bridgewater. Some connections between Teddy B & WFT, but Washington is excited to roll with Ryan Fitzpatrick and young QBs this fall.

This DeShaun Watson story just keeps getting weirder. HPD is now investigating. The part that gets me:

Alright serious question. If you are representing basically a class action of massage therapists who felt violated by one man, why would you not feel comfortable cooperating with police? If their claims are legit, I would have no problem presenting all the evidence to HPD to see if criminal charges might apply.

I feel like with Watson, the truth is probably somewhere in the middle. There might be a few of these girls who had innocent interactions with Watson and are hoping to ride the money train, but I also think there have to be several who take their business seriously and were totally uncomfortable with Watson trying to hook up with them. The one story in particular about him getting an erection, then nutting on his stomach and the masseuse ending the massage and immediately telling the other therapist who gave her the referral (and her fam too) about it strikes me as true given the texts involved and the witness confirmation.

But Buzbee only makes himself look bad by saying he won't cooperate with police. It de-legitimizes their claims.
How do you bust one off while someone is giving you a massage? I'm trying to wrap my brain around that. Watson is one strange ass dude with this fetish. He has some inner demons that he needs to get ironed out. You're an NFL QB w/ generational money, you can have all the women you want yet you need to go get a massage and get a nut while on the table. That is just some weird shit. His reputation is ruined and he has to be incredibly embarrassed

I bet that HPD has a hard on for busting on massage parlors and Buzbee feels his clients will be opening themselves up to a legal screwing if they bare their cases to HPD.

There are good reasons not to go to HPD - parallel civil and criminal proceedings are complicated. It makes it hard to settle, you may lose control over the ability to amass evidence (a witness can plead the 5th and you get nothing in the deposition), judges can require the criminal case to go first - there are many reasons. Now, there are some advantages too, and at the end of the day not cooperating is also problematic. But affirmatively pursuing a criminal complaint definitely complicates your civil case.

You make some good points. For me though, Buzbee's whole angle is "this is not about money, it's about holding Watson accountable for his actions." Right, so usually you want someone held accountable for their actions, you go to police .

Thanks for explaining, def was lost on why this was not happening.

Watson’s entire response to this hasn’t been good. I have a lot doubts about his innocence in this.

If Watson is guilty of this, he may be suspended an entire season at the very least.

Here's their problem, Teddy Bridgewater is due to make $22.9 million this season and they only save $2.9 million in cap room if they cut him.

They better re-do that contract and find a sucker to trade for him, because no way he beats out Darnold for the job.
