re: New Games on the Horizon (the video game thread)

I'm way behind the times. Just borrowed Gears of War 1 from my brother in law and am playing it now. about 2/3 of the way done. It is hard as hell and I don't know if i can continue in the 2nd and 3rd game unless they have some kind of a "rookie" option or something. Seriously i'm terrible at it, and I usually do great with FPS....

re: New Games on the Horizon (the video game thread)

I returned Dead Island after a week. Huge disappointment considering how much a fan I am of all things zombie. I got it expecting a decent attempt at a story, but the game put a big skip this cut scene prompt smack dab in the corner of the screen of every cut scene which couldn't be removed. To me that translated to "we don't give a crap about the story." Combine that with my other deal breaker of mute main characters that engage in one way dialogs. Granted the game was beautiful and did a nice job of producing scares as well as the type of environment you look for in a zombie game but beyond that it was shallow.

Just bought Deus Ex Human Revolution. Game looks very promising so far. Also looking forward to Uncharted 3 in November, Dead Rising 2: Off the Record in October, and the Metal Gear HD collection in Mid-November. Assasins Creed Revelation should also be solid.

Also haven't gotten around to Batman Arkham Asylum nor the upcoming Arkham City but everything I've read declares it's a hell of a game. Still always good to have rainy day games saved away seeing as how you only really get 4 or 5 good non-sport games a year.

I'm actually a fan of the GOW2 "wave" mode where you and a partner can buddy up and slay wave after wave of enemies. Idk what it's called since I only play it at a friends' house (who I don't even manage to see that often considering he's in a different state) but that's pretty fun. I wonder if they made any changes to it this time.

All you guys calling Gears of War GOW is offensive to us Playstation owners. We are in procession of the TRUE GOW aka GOD of War lol.

Take your roided up Fred Durst elsewhere
Fred Durst to Play Marcus Fenix is Gears of War Movie

"It was an extremely tough decision between Fred Durst and Topher Grace, but in the end, Durst's experience with facial hair and colorful use of the english language gave him the edge. Several producers were insisting on Jason Statham, but his lack of a badass goatee disqualified him fairly early in negotiations."

I love God of War as much as the next guy, but I'm not picky about usage of the name.

Also, Fred Durst is lame, that is all.

I was on last night, enjoyed it. Haven't gotten to the point where the vehicles are available, which to me is what will set this game apart. Graphics were pretty decent.

Yeah can't wait for the vehicles too.

Graphics should be cleaned up on the final release.

When playing shooters, are you one to actively communicate with your team? I just can't bring myself to be that guy, I'm more of a leroy jenkins.
