Re: Trent Williams ends season-long holdout, rejoins Redskins
Sure they will because when Trent's agent talks to other teams he and Trent will soon discover that no team is going to pay Trent anything close to that ridiculous number.

Trade him and Dunbar to Jacksonville where they can reunite with JG, maybe the Rams could be interested also.

Agreed. He doesn’t care about the Redskins - he just wants to cash out at the end of his career. I thought he would come back for the next two years with a reasonable contract with the guaranteed money he wanted. The maddening thing is Bruce could have traded him for a first rounder AND MORE if he had managed this trade in a reasonable manner last summer. Instead he totally blew this trade, like so many other things. It looks like we will trade Trent for a second rounder and maybe something in the 2021 draft. $20 mill is just a crazy number to ask for at this point in his career. This would make him this highest paid OT in the NFL. At 32. When he hasn’t finished a full season in how many years? I’m disappointed in how this turned out. If Trent keeps asking for this insane salary number, the team will move quickly on from him with a trade. They don’t want this to distract the team. They’re going to probably use the second rounder for an OT to replace Trent. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

If true that 20 mil number is absolute insanity for a guy like him.
If we come away from this with a draft pick that's less than what we should've gotten you can chalk it up to one last parting failure of Bruce Allen.

Re: Trent Williams ends season-long holdout, rejoins Redskins
Trent isn't getting $20M a year from anybody, but if he did more power to him.
I always laugh at how bent people get over contract talk. It's called negotiating. Both sides start out far apart and work towards a deal in the middle. If a number gets your panties in a bunch you're in the wrong business. |

I think every football player should get whatever they can money-wise for their services. They have to live later with permanent physical injuries and more significantly with the CEP effects of concussions. The average career length in the NFL is 4 years. “Not For Long” = NFL. I was hoping the Redskins could resign Trent. And maybe they will when he finds out what the real market is for him in the NFL. Obviously he wants to be the highest paid OT in the NFL. If the Redskins really try to keep Scherff - he will cost at the top of the OG salaries. Scherff is 28 and in his prime. If the Redskins have to choose between resigning Trent Williams at the top salary versus Scherff at the top salary, they’ll trade Trent. They can’t hire both players at peak contracts. Trent isn't getting 20M from the skins lol, he may get 12-14 but at his age I wouldn't bank on it

Re: Trent Williams ends season-long holdout, rejoins Redskins
According to the Redskins, NO ONE has shown an interest in trading for Trent Williams. Maybe after the draft. Trent may want $20 mill a season. But he will only get what the market will bear. He’s got things going against him: he’s 32 and on the downside of his career. Teams may question about his physical condition or his motivation. Kyle Smith also said he should play his contract. So, Trent may ask to be the top-paid OT, but I doubt he will get it.

- The Pats were interested in trading for Trent last season, but quickly lost interest once they knew Trent's asking price. - No one offered a first round pick last season. - The Browns gave one of the lowest offers to the Redskins. I just don't see Trent getting the money that he wants, and what he wants is going to affect the team's ability to trade him.

Re: Trent Williams ends season-long holdout, rejoins Redskins
If we were to cut Trent and another team picked him up would we get a compensatory pick for him?
Not saying we should do that, just asking the question. |

We’ll get more by trading Trent than a compensatory pick. I think we can get a second or third rounder for him. I think Rivera will take a second rounder rather than the huge salary that Trent wants. That second round pick could get them an excellent WR, one of the few good TE available or an OT. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

No. If you release a player you get no comp picks. The player only helps you in the comp pick formula if he plays out his entire contract with you, and then leaves in FA.
