So, I asked if you could provide a list of attacks on Garland when he was nominated (stupid or otherwise) and this was your response. I'll take that as a concession on your part. Now that that is out of the way we will have hearings on Biden's nominee and there will be stupid attacks but it is still an opportunity for McConnel to show a difference in how the GOP approaches a nominee and how the Dems did. He can do this by marginalizing those GOP Senators that behave poorly during the process which would be a marked contrast to how the Dem Senators acted in Kavanaugh's (especially his) and Barret's hearings. Unlike the Dems, I just don't see the utility in getting shit all over yourself when you can't stop the nomination.

Who said anything about fair. I was referring to behavior and how one conducts oneself in these hearings. The Dems didn't do themselves any favors with their conduct during the Barret and especially the Kavanaugh hearings. This is an opportunity for McConnel and the GOP Senators to contrast how they conduct themselves during these hearings versus what the Dems did to the two nominees mentioned above.

I'm not even saying the GOP will do this, just saying the opportunity is there and McConnel is usually one to seize any opportunity.

Watching Grahams questioning of Brown.

he does the southern charm simple speak really well. She said she was protestant. He asked is she could judge a catholic fairly .. which I saw as his attempt to tee up a joke for her. Get the laugh going both ways, her defenses down so she is just talking and not talking guarded.

Graham is what a neo conservative should be.

Very conservative, probably some double speak and half truths but hes a statesman at least in show.

Now he is cutting her off a lot, which is a strategy as well.

------------

edit -- nevermind .. hes not even asking her actual questions.

graham - "Do you know Mrs. C?"

Brown - "I know the name, not sure if I ever met her"

Graham - goes on talking for 2-3 mins about who Mrs. C is ...

Graham - "Now what do you think about that?"

Brown - "okay"

Graham - "Now lets talk about Hitler"

Didn’t the Republicans refuse to conduct the hearing to even advance to the vote part? How could they attack him if they wouldn’t even hold the hearings?

There is no point in attacking if your strategy is that the nominee will never see a vote? Don’t actvlike the GOP is not into the dirty laundry man. Especially in that circumstance.

Re: Supreme Court vacancy

As far as Lindsey Graham goes, well the guy is literally the biggest tool bag in government. Wtf was he talking about Gitmo and how 30 percent of the detainees were released over a period of time - trying to paint that as a Dem move. Um Lindsey might wanna study before the test next time. Unless attacking Bush is somehow a slight on Dems. Fuckin clown that guy is. His spirit animal is a weasel.

Yesss, now we can all move on with our lives. Talk about all for show, there was no way she wasn't getting confirmed. And if it wasn't her, it would just be another liberal that most conservatives wouldn't like.

Seems like she will do a good job, not really anything major to stop her from being seated.

Re: Supreme Court vacancy

Kentucky ended virtually all in-state abortions on Wednesday, enacting a sweeping law that bans abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy, restricts minors’ access to the procedure, and cracks down on medication abortions. It’s now the state with the harshest abortion restrictions in the United States.

The new law, which goes into effect immediately, will force the state’s two remaining abortion clinics in Louisville to close due to onerous new requirements on doctors, forcing Kentuckians to look elsewhere for abortion care.

And it comes as Republican-led legislatures across the country are passing seemingly unconstitutional, draconian anti-abortion laws in anticipation of a coming Supreme Court decision widely expected to eliminate Americans’ right to an abortion. Oklahoma, for example, recently passed a law similar to Kentucky’s that imposes a near-total ban on abortions except in cases where the pregnant person’s life is in danger — though it isn’t slated to go into effect for another few months.

Direct result of the SCOTUS not granting an injunction to the Texas law.

SCOTUS is a huge domino to fall in our democracy.

Its a race to the bottom at this point.

Bolded is completely wrong (harsher than Oklahoma? Texas, Idaho??? those states are at the extreme end at 6 weeks or less and have felony charges attached). And the underlined is wrong if you are claiming requiring abortions being performed prior to 15 weeks bans most abortions, as almost all abortions occur prior to 15 weeks. 15 weeks is eminently reasonable as that is about the norm for the rest of the civilized world. Now the other requirements you mentioned I'll have to look at to see what their actual effects are.

What are your thoughts on Maryland's new abortion law?

Missed some earlier replies I noticed from last month. Just want to follow up that the Republicans missed an opportunity.
