yeah in all honesty I would have rather had Raheem go instead of Haz, IF I had to choose. I thought by getting rid of both of them we'd help ourselves out.

HOWEVER, is there any actual proof or credible source that says Raheem Morris is staying for sure? The whole staff is under reconstruction right now, has he been given a free pass?

I'd hope/think not, but the reactions on this board have me thinking he's been promoted or something....

Need to Know: Why did the Redskins hire Joe Barry? | Rich Tandler's Real Redskins

And this guy might be joining the coaching staff, he has worked for Wade Phillips and sounds great.

it's just weird that we're hiring a guy (with a bad resume) that runs a scheme like wade phillips, hire guys that worked with wade, but not actually hire wade himself.

here's hoping it works out anyways.

Possibly, but do you really put anything past this front office? Not saying I believe that situation to be the case, but I don't discount it either.

I guess the thinking is Barry can relate better with the younger players.

After reading the available articles about Barry and Gruden's comments on the hire that the "Energy" he is looking for is not rah-rah energy. Gruden knows it is going to be a long hard road and wants a grinder who is loyal.

"He’s walking into a situation here where we’re going to have some adversity and I know he can handle it. He’s a tough guy, committed guy, a loyal guy, and I think he’s good fit for us"

We either predict utter domination or an embarrasing failure. I'm fine with the Barry hire. I wanted Ken Norton but I'll take Barry coming here to lead the defense. I want to see him build his staff, work with the players and come year 3 I hope we're on the way to something special here.

I'm putting my money on embarrassing failure. This guy will not make it pass next season, definitely if this defense takes a step back. I haven't seen anything that would suggest this guy is qualified.

Weird for sure...

Re: 2015 Redskins Coaches/Coordinators News

There are reports that Raheem Morris is expected to join the Atlanta Falcons defensive staff. There are also reports that we have interest in bringing in Perry Fewell (former NY Giants DC) to replace Raheem as DB Coach. See sources below.

@MikeJonesWaPo: Raheem Morris expected to leave Redskins for Atlanta Falcons

@JasonLaCanfora: Former Giants defensive coordinator Perry Fewell interviewing with the 49ers today. Skins also have some interest in him for DBs opening

It's funny Morris is not good enough for skins fans, yet he is good enough for Dan Quinn as a senior assistant.

As bad as our DB''s have played the past 2 years, I'm not sure if it was Haz or Morris, so now that both are going, I feel better.

I will take my chance on what's behind door #2 over the "known" experience of the past 2 years.

Quinn & Morris go back a ways, so this is Quinn surrounding himself with people he trusts and is comfortable with. Nothing wrong with that- I would sure build my staff the same way.

Yeah, the go back to their Hofstra days. I still say Haslett was the problem, we can't blame the lack of talent Morris had to work with.

Barry/Haz:

Richard Crawford was on 980 the other day discussing the differences in our D compared to San Diego's.

He basically said when he was here, under Haz, we ran a little bit of everything schematically. Jack of all trades, master of none (my interpretation).

In SD, he said the schemes were much simpler and fewer in number. Statistically, they were more successful than we were. I'm really not sure how much of a talent differential there was.

On certain plays, we had 4 or 5 professional football players that didn't seem to have a clue where they were supposed to be. No idea if this was related to the complexity of the defensive call. Depending on who you asked, safety or corner, there was or was not a communication issue.

When in doubt, simpler is better. Dallas had a talentless defense that was better than ours running the simplest scheme since the late 90s.

Barry will be an improvement over Haz.

Morris:

Cooley explained the other day that a position coach says "Sir, yes Sir" when a coordinator calls the defense; whether he agrees or not. Morris' role in the debacle this year is impossible to quantify unless you're in the meetings and on the sidelines. That being said, I hope we part ways. Sometimes change is good. Wish him the best.
