He was starting to go into a slide against Atlanta when he got clocked. Sliding doesn't protect you 100% from injury. Guys can still hit you on the way down or late. Ngata wasn't going to let up, he would have him hit regardless. |

Flacco underthrew that. Had he thrown it in stride, that goes for 6. That isn't on Smith. Can't speak about him misjudging the ball recently, but that didn't appear to be the case today. Flacco's main problem is his consistency.

I still say it was the bye that saved us. But for good drama let's go with what Mike said.

Flacco should have led him on that throw though. I blame Flacco a lot more, he needs a lot of time to make throws.

Re: Ravens at Redskins Post Game Thread (RG3 MRI Result-Sprained Knee)
I want to give a shoutout to rookies making big plays for us this season. We have gotten timely contributions from rookies when we needed them multiple times this season.
RG3 - need I say anything? Alfred Morris - Even those most optimistic about him heading into training camp must be somewhat surprised by his production this season. Richard Crawford - had his ups and downs, but without a doubt his punt return today has been the highlight of his season so far, and it couldn't have happened at a better time for us. Kirk Cousins - other than the comeback drive, didn't ask too much of him today, but he delivered at every opportunity. I'm not too optimistic about us if he has to step in for any length of time, but kudos is definitely in order for what he did for us today. Keenan Robinson - done for the year now, but was playing solid when he was in the lineup previously. Kobra Kai Forbath - All I want out of a kicker is one who can make field goals, and not kick the ball out of bounds repeatedly on kickoffs. And since he's never missed a field goal in his NFL career and is mostly solid on kickoffs he meets all my qualifications. Hopefully he's our guy for the next decade. |

the one thing Griffin has to understand, and maybe he does, is that once he is running he absolutely has a target on him. Defenses know they want to hit him every chance they can, and it is impprtant to slide or protect himself. I think he is learning and will, but when the game is on the line his competitive spirit and drive takes over. I don't know that you want him to break that part.

I think RG3 is probably one of the more targeted guys in the NFL. You can't stop him, so why not try to hurt him? It's getting very obvious every game.

When he turned back into the middle of the field he was taking a risk. Slide or not he was going back into the unit chasing him.

Id like to add another note before I start cramming Pollard ought to be suspended for that blatant yet missed helmet to helmet attempt

Well he got hit in the legs while they were up in the air. So if he slid feet first they would not have been up in the air. I agreed with your statement that he could get hurt anyway. Just saying that in this particular case it was an awkward slide that left him in a vulnerable spot. Also Ngata could have possibly drawn a penalty. Griffs slide in this case left him vulnerable. Thank God it was not worse. Thats whats important.

Re: Ravens at Redskins Post Game Thread (RG3 MRI Result-Sprained Knee)
I have never seen anyone get a knee injury when the leg is not planted. Has anyone else has seen a knee injury as a result of of whipping across a players back before? He was hit on the thigh not the knee.
I played for 14 years (not pro, youth thru college) and have watched for 35 years and I will say that is a freak knee injury if there ever was one. Cant get mad about that....not like he is trying to truck folks down the sideline. IMO when the drops started in the 4th QTR, Robert said follow me we are going to win. That is what we have had missing from this team for 20 years. |
