Would Cutler have had a different career trajectory if he hadn't been selected by Shanahan and the Broncos? I don't know. And how does he not get any credit for Terrell Davis?
These are all fair points and probably exposing my bias against more than yours for Mike (if one exists). Young is especially good example. Elway had the best situation while Mike was in Denver and yest that had a lot to do with Mike's running scheme. Some of us always wondered if that stellar ground game could work outside the suspect AFC West. So far?

...I didn't remember Mike selecting Terrell. Dude was a beast and w/o the injury would have been a legit GOAT contender.

All the hate on Kyle I find a little comical. We have bottom 5 offensive talent in this league with a healthy roster, let alone losing all the pieces we've lost. Over the past two years we've made huge transitions on the defensive side of the ball. We now have a good and competitive defense. Time to spend the next two years focusing on modernizing the offense and getting the pieces we need.
It is comical. We were overperforming to our talent level prior to the injuries. I'd say that's pretty good coaching.

I think many fans want to admit how crappy our team was when MS got here. I refuse to admit that the organization thinks Beck/Grossman are legit "franchise" QB's. They do have to come out publically and say nice things about them...that's what you do. We've got a ways to go, don't start going all "Snyder."

Your right! What are they supposed to say? These two Dog Assed Mf..ers couldn't make the starting team for Odessa Permian? But there all I got.
....as you point out.
I Really cannot understand WHY so many fans cannot seem to grasp this and that the coaches comments (any coach at any given time) are just "CoachSpeak" and may have little to do with the truth.

I thought Shanahan and Davis both came in 1995.

I don't have any bias for Mike Shanahan, I'm kind of neutral toward him.

That stellar ground game has done well in Houston, Oakland(when Cable introduced it), and Tennessee.

Not really overperforming, just barely beating crappy underperforming teams with the exception of the Gmen in week 1, and even they underperformed. I doubt we beat the Gmen next round. Losing is one thing, but looking lost on the field is another. And as for the "Snyder" stuff? Yes it is old, but it is more than fair to say there is a large amount of truth in blaming him. This downward spiral started in late Nov when he canned Norv with 4-5 games left. The knee jerk reactions and the lackluster drafting has set us back worse than the Shuler pick.

Re: What's your take on our coaching?

I am looking at the big picture. I see a new franchise since Shanny got to town. I told myself once he was hired I would not make any decisions on Shanny based on record until after the 3rd season. What I see is a group of hard working guys. Guys who see this as a job and not a right. This team was so messed up when Shanny got here that 2 years or year and a half, isnt even close to enough time to fix it. I think they got a lot of great pieces for the defense last year. And didnt overpay for average payers on offense. I think they finish reshaping the offense this off season and next year we will start to see the team of the future in DC.

The comments about a near total lack of leadership are just becoming painfully obvious w/ every passing week. You can word it several ways as he said in the discussion there's no energy emanating from Mike. In fact I see no energy from any of these coaches. Where's the motivation supposed to come from? Don't tell me the paycheck. Don't tell me professional athletes shouldn't need "extra" motivation. We all look to be inspired and especially when it's tough going.

Whatever the dynamic is among the current coaching staff...it's simply not working.

Re: What's your take on our coaching?

I had thought about a new thread/Poll with the question about What about Mike? With a poll:

1. I like Mike!
2. Hire an up and coming Assistant Coach from another team
3. Hire a re-tread former mediocre Head Coach
4. Cowher (getting specific)
5. Mooch (see reasoning for #4.)

But then I saw this extremely long thread with over 20 pages, so I'm simply adding. The poll in this current thread is good, but not as long as my analytical brain dreamed up.

To answer the current poll: Should MS be in the HOT HOT HOT Seat?

I'll check back in three weeks if the season is officially over for us. Right now, I'm totally leaning toward yes, but 70% of our problems are line-depth related. And MS didn't understand that from last year, and early on this year? And is that MS's problem, or BA's?

Right now I would stay the course. Keep getting some good young talent in here and if things don't get better...hire an up and coming coach who doesn't have a bare cupboard when he gets here.

Like when I suggested Harbaugh 2 years ago.

Serious time management issues. Where is the hurry up at when behind by many points. Lack of urgency. Lazy coaching preparation. But that is at the bottom of the to do list.

Kyle Shanahan: "Daddy we've lost four in a row, im ready to do something else this isnt any fun"

Daddy Shanahan: "Boy, do you see all those zeros at the end of your pay check?, now go get Dan some coffee, and after that play a little Madden and find us a few more bootlegs."
