He once said he thought fred davis was going to become a pro bowler for us, after he retired. You'd think, given as much time as Cooley spent around Davis, he'd have had a better informed opinion of Davis than that...

That said, sure, I'll give you the former players and add to the list Doc Walker. And I do really like Cooley for the most part, I've just lost any faith in what he says... there's no rhyme or reason to when he hits/misses on things... I listen to his show pretty much in its entirety every day.

Jackson and Clarke? lol ok.
I've actually found CC to be pretty honest....and love Doc, but HE is a homer....Caveman, Gloworm, etc

I like Cooley but, to me, he clearly needs more practice in front of the mic. A

s much as his arrogance of "If you haven't played in the NFL, you don't know sh** about it." rubs me the wrong way at times, BMitch is my favorite of the former player analysts - though I like Matich too. (Matich is always good for passing on a couple of insights that only a former player would notice and doing so in a manner that makes sense to those who haven't played the game since HS/College).

Keim doesn't understand football and is all about "connections" -- da fuq??

Going to put it in a cast for a couple of weeks, not sure how long rehab will be.

dislocated, no fracture.

sending MRI to Andrews.

No rough guess on time table.
That is probably the best answer by Gruden he can give. Everyone needs to just leave the speculation on when Griffin returns up in the air. No since throwing a timeframe out there and putting pressure on Griffin to hit it. He needs to recover and just flat out get healthy. By this time next week it will be all about how well Cousin played or didn't play and Griffin won't be on anyone's mind. I just feel bad for the guy, he is made of glass.

Shoot, I forgot about Matich. He's the best, the absolute best, of the local former athletes. Maybe even beyond that. I love his analysis

I like Cooley more than I expected to. I think he explains things well

Mitchell is good, he's a friend so I'll recuse myself from a full analysis. But in short, I think he can speak well to the emotion of playing football and all the intangible stuff but not really an Xs and Os guys

Doc has a very arrogant "if you don't play pro sports, your opinion doesn't matter" attitude and he refers to much to the "in my super bowl winning days" for my liking.

Liz Clarke is outstanding. Does the research, asks the right questions. Tremendous addition to Washington Post's staff. Sometimes the smartest ones are the ones who know they don't know enough to presume.

Sheehan's obsession with bringing up Shanahan at every turn this season is wearing on me. Just move on already

He made an observation about how Kerrigan dealt with the Jags RT that was something no one watching the game saw but once TM explained it, it was like "Wow ... that makes a lot of sense."

TM said Kerrigan had done really good film study of the Jags RT b/c he consistently anticipated the RT's initial move in the hand-fighting that goes on between linemen. According to TM, Kerrigan was able to consistently control the RT b/c the RT consistently started low with his hand placement and Kerrigan's initial move was to come low with his initial punch but, instead of going to the RT's body, used it to control/prevent the RT from raising his hands and get good placement on Kerrigan's body. TM's comment was that the consistency and precision with which Kerrigan was able to do this showed careful study of the RT's technique.

As a former lineman, it just made me say "Wow!" both b/c of Kerrigan's technique study and Matich's ability to see/understand this.

A track athlete? He won the Heisman -- and it wasn't because of running the ball. He threw for a ton of yards and TDs that year. Obviously, he's a track athelete as well, and I would agree he isn't built like Big Ben. But I don't think that folks can chalk this up to the guy being fragile. His ACL was an issue in college, and he obviously had a significant re-injury at the end of 2012. But he worked his way back from that.

Injuries are going to happen -- even to the sturdiest of players. Guys in the NFL are a scary combination of big and fast, and it doesn't even have to be a collision that will cause injury -- take, for example, Jadaveon Clowney. He too got a non-contact injury and I doubt anyone would suggest he's fragile or made of glass. Speed + power = at least occasional injury. Humans didn't evolve to do what these guys do every Sunday.

Sheehan's obsessions are very annoying.

Re: Skins-Jags Positives and Negatives

Granted, it's very early, but when was the last time we saw something like this? NFL Stats: Team

Redskins -- #1 Defense; #5 Offense.

Crazy to think that this plus a blowout win yesterday, and yet we're all feeling a little depressed because of the injuries.

Re: Skins-Jags Positives and Negatives

The Mitchell and Matich post game show on CSN is good T.V. for any Skins fan. I enjoy their insights. Those guys aren't afraid to express strong opinions, either.

Some of you who live far away from D.C. should consider springing for NFL Sunday Ticket and CSN-Atlantic on Direct TV, if it fits in your budget. Then you won't miss any Skins games or commentary. I got this and more for what I used to pay for crappy basic cable in my area.

Re: Skins-Jags Positives and Negatives

im a big fan of cooley's film break down and X n Os talk on tuesday's at 5 pm. he is the only radio guy i know that can give you in-depth play analysis. seemingly all radio talking heads just seem to spout subjective opinions and rehash of news tidbits (which is fine, thats talk radio for ya)

bummed i dont know who Matich is ... sounds like he is not a radio guy so i wouldnt have an opportunity to hear/see him.
