Re: Current Redskins Salary Cap Status - 2009
Jeez, I've been waiting all day to see 1) what's left over from the insanity of the last 24 hrs 2) reasonable scenarios of who we can sign to the o-line.
... c'mon people, i'm relying on you here

Re: Current Redskins Salary Cap Status - 2009
First post in the thread is updated. Note that numbers are very preliminary at this point, but should be in the ballpark. CC will nail down the numbers like he always does.
I have us at $7.0 million in cap space currently. This is based on Canuck's February 12th sheets, and reflecting the following moves which have taken place since: - The addition of Haynesworth and Hall. - The tenders of Golston, Monty, and Suisham. - The release of Washington and Springs. - The voiding of Phillip Daniels' contract. - The restructures/extensions of Carter, Randle-El, Samuels, and Griffin. - The re-signing of Ethan Albright. I anticipate Dockery can be had for $3.5 in space (assuming 15 million guaranteed). I anticipate we can grab another lineman for $2.5 or so. That should still leave us enough room for our rookies, and either Daniels or Evans, assuming the price on them comes down over the few weeks (which I think it will, they can't be valued very highly outside of Redskins Park).

Thats good that we have an opportunity to still bring back Dockery, he should have never left and our left side of the line would be top notch.

Re: Current Redskins Salary Cap Status - 2009
With the addition of Derrick Dockery, we move to $4.4 million in cap space. Per Schefter, he was signed for a bargain, $8.2 million in guaranteed money.
We still have the room to get another lineman. We're at $4.4 million in space (ballpark). This is based on Canuck's February 12th sheets, and reflecting the following moves which have taken place since: - The addition of Haynesworth, Hall, and Dockery. - The tenders of Golston, Monty, and Suisham. - The release of Washington and Springs. - The voiding of Phillip Daniels' contract. - The restructures/extensions of Carter, Randle-El, Samuels, and Griffin. - The re-signing of Ethan Albright.

Re: Current Redskins Salary Cap Status - 2009
so we have 4.4M is actual money we can spend on free agents? The rookie pool has been accounted for seperately? And how much do we need for players to replace those who could become injured during the season?

I think we can sign one guy to a deal similar to what Dock got, wait for Evans or Daniels and get them at a low price, then sign our rookies. CC will nail down the numbers real tight though, then we'll really know what we're dealing with.

- The addition of Haynesworth, Hall, and Dockery. Based on PCinOZ's info I was able to decipher the details of all the extensions. I have us at $13.682M of cap room. |

I wonder if there are players like Portis or others scheduled to make decent money that are looking at some FA thinking, Hey I could restructure if they go after so and so. |

Re: Current Redskins Salary Cap Status - 2009
Unless we have someone specifically ready to take up the room we would free up from cutting Thrash, I don't see the point.

He plays a 100% percent. Both of our last two coaches rave about his pratice work ethic and locker room presence. Shoot, Joe Gibbs once said he wished he had 53 James Trashes. And last but not least, he never get any love on this board and has been a redskin forever.
