Cole Holcomb passed his physical and is signing a three-year, $18 million deal with the #Steelers today, per source. The new middle linebacker and signal-caller for Pittsburgh’s defense.

Based on usual cap economics that is a $3m cap hit this year, less than they guaranteed to the new guy. [Edit] $18m is the max value of the contract.

Talking w @Joe_Fann about new Commanders LB Cody Barton: "He's serviceable if unspectacular...The development never popped for a 3rd rounder...He's fine, he's not going to lose you games, but he's not going to make those game wrecker plays either"

experience at being 18-30 as a starter, sure.

Its my opinion, yall dont have to agree, try suffering through watching every game he played last year. The dude is a bum, period. Nothing to see here. If he sniffs qb1, like i said, we're screwed, see ya next year.

I'm kinda surprised we wouldn't sign Holcomb for the deal he got with Steelers. $6 million per year isn't that significant. I know the guarantee is the issue but I wouldn't oppose giving him a few millions extra guaranteed to have a real competition in the LB corp.

I can't speak for everyone but I don't expect or want him to start. Who would you prefer to sign as a FA back up?

Did you watch all the Commanders games?

I'm surprised how split we all are on if Brissett is an improvement or not. I'm in the definitely improved camp.

I think JD was the 3rd down/pass catching back, but he was injured and now he's gone. I heard somewhere that McKinnon could be in the mix. You got the Robinson/Gibson as main backs, McKinnon as the 3rd down. So either Patterson or Williams may not be around.

McKinnon in EB screen game is deadly. I’d say get him here

Can’t have enough good backs especially to help support a young QB

I don't think we need McKinnon at all. Gibson is more than fine handling 3rd down and splitting carries w/ BR.

Do they have something against Patterson? Everytime he gets carries he gets tough yards.

I thought he looked great against Dallas, but what do I know.

I thought they let JD go because they liked at least either Patterson or Williams.

But Bieniemy could just want 1 of his guys here.
