Re: Jason Campbell
Here's my personal assessment of negatives and positives from Campbell against the Ravens (I didn't see the six minutes or so of the 4th quarter):
Positives: Nice touch and good arm strength on the touchdown pass. Very accurate on medium routes. Has the strength and mobility to get away from a pass rush and run for yards. Negatives: He spent too much time watching his primary targets and waiting for plays to develop. Must show better overall awareness and ability to read defenses. Needs to be more decisive as a passer. Must continue to work out the rookie jitters. Overall opinion: Campbell has excellent potential but he will need reps and experience before he can expect to be ready. I expect he could be ready sometime the middle of next season.

Re: Jason Campbell
Very good assessment, and I totally agree. However, last night the line didn't afford him much by way of protection and the pressure was getting to him early, forcing him to make and execute decisions before he was ready. With more reps he will improve, but i don't feel he's ready to play full time at this level just yet.

Re: Jason Campbell
I'm not convinced that Jason Campbell needs at least three years. I am certain that Ramsey will not be in Washington next year, which leaves the spot open for Campbell who needs to watch and learn from Musgrave, Gibbs and Brunell. Campbell's contract is filled with incentives for next year and I'm sure he will fulfill his side of the deal. Only time will tell.

Re: Jason Campbell
Well I was one of his biggest detractors when we picked him [primarliy because we gave up to much for a project] but I like the little I saw of him, no rookie can run Gibbs offense, it takes a seasoned veterans at least a year to master it, I really like his accuracy his ability to get out of the pocket and make a play, but most of all I like the confidence and poise he's shown, he looks like a leader, but as a lot of guy's are starting to see in this thread he's 2 years away, we gave up an awful lot for a prolonged project like Campbell.

Re: Jason Campbell
Here's how I see that unfolding:
Basically Campbell cracks the line-up in his third possibly 4th year: Ramsey goes to Miami or Chicago next year - via trade or FA...who knows? Brunell pretty much flat out wins the QB job and tutors JC thru camp and reg. season. Year 3 Campbell and Brunell battle for QB position, Campbell wins- Brunell backs him up and retires the following season. Sounds good, ey |

Re: Jason Campbell
What QB's aren't projects though?
Only thing is we can afford to let him sit this year, while most teams are pressured into playing their rookie QBs before they are really ready. I think Campbell will be ready to compete for the job next year. He's our only sure thing at QB next year. Either Ramsey or Brunell will likely be gone. |

Re: Jason Campbell
Campbell will be ready to start by year 2 at worst.
If he's not ready until year 3 or 4, that's way too late. |

Re: Jason Campbell
Has Ramsey really had a chance to show he can lead the team to the playoffs?
He only started 7 games last year, and in 2003 his season was cut short due to injury. |

From the little I saw of him I would tend to agree with that, even though he made some mistakes out there, he wasen't a deer in headlights either, he was attacking the defense which is a very good sign of his inner confidence in his abilties, I think Campbell has a real belief that he will succeed, now he has to convince the rest of us. |
