Re: More Lenny P: O-line manhandled in scrimmage
I don't think either is "holding the other back"--it's more that the whole thing has to gel--and on a Gibbs team that starts with the o-line. My guess is that once that gels, Ramsey will settle down a lot. Remember how long Rypien had to throw back in the day? We don't need to break any records, but Ramsey's gotta get into a comfort zone a bit, a the line's gotta provide that for him. That's the key. Then Ramsey will look good, the recievers will be open, and GIbbs will be a genius--all becuase the blockers hold up for ONE second longer. That's all it will take, IMO. That, a few blitz pickups, and the box won't have 8-9 guys in it. Then hand the ball to Portis and get out of the way.

I believe miami was offering up a couple of #1's a year ago, Parcells also had some good things to say when it was thought there may be a possibility of his avalibility when Gibbs took over, Riggin's has also made similar comment's concerning Ramsey and his situation, quite honestly I haven't heard another team say anything bad about the guy talent wise, but I have heard quite a lot coming from teams about how simplistic our offense was. Bottom line if Gibbs put Ramsey on the block tommorow, I believe a bidding war would start. In the word's of our own Clinton Portis, "the defenses know what's coming" I have a question, if Portis was a first year back last season with no NFL record to speak of, what do you think his value would be right now? I would say a second round pick top's, far cry from a 50 million dollar back, so who is at fault there Gibbs or Portis? Put Ramsey in the Patriot's system and he would be doing [IMO] as well as Brady, obviously that remains to be seen. My bottom line is this, regardless of how many injuries to our O-line last season we should have been a far better team than we were PERIOD! Gibbs went with Brunell when I said he was not a Gibbs type QB which is a pocket passer, which was why Coughlin wanted to get rid of him because he was more of a playmaker than a real QB, and Coughlin new he couldn't win with him, and I was right, I then said not to trade for Portis because he is not a Gibbs type back, and if we did we would have to restructure the blocking schemes to suit his running style, going away from what Gibbs did to win 3 super bowls, and guess what I was right, unfortunatly it took Gibbs a year to realize that. Imagine where we would be right now as a franchise if we stuck with Ramsey, and traded Champ off for picks? We could be looking at Kevin Jones in our backfield, and we wouldn't have 93 million tied up in 2 players, and we would have a lot more talent on our team with the money and picks we would have saved, aint no way anyone is going to convince me otherwise. |

Re: More Lenny P: O-line manhandled in scrimmage
Hey, Offiss, you always seem to have it all figured out don't you? The Redskins should hire you as a consultant. Then maybe we'd start winning. Just do whatever you say and next thing you know we are back in the playoffs.
It isn't that easy. It is hard to take a team that has been nothing more than dismal the last 12 years and turn it around. Give Gibbs the benefit of the doubt. He will turn it around. Give him some time. |

Also what does the 93 million matter to you? That is real money and nothing for us skins fans to be concerned about. Dannyboy can worry about that. The money we need to worry about is the cap money which granted isn't insignificant but is nowhere near 93 million. That is spin you are spouting. |

Re: More Lenny P: O-line manhandled in scrimmage
A couple of first round picks for Ramsey?? Please.
I believe there were rumors of one first rounder, but it would have been more likely a second rounder. I'm tired of debating whether or not Ramsey is the guy for the job, if Gibbs has faith in him, etc. Talk to me after this season and we'll have a much better idea of where we're going with Ramsey. |

Re: More Lenny P: O-line manhandled in scrimmage
I didnt see the scrimmage, but the rest of the article seemed pretty accurate to me. TAFKAS -- It's not "what have you done lately" when you question Gibbs. He's the best COACH we've had in Washington since he left. However, his playcalling and GM duties should be stripped from him if he has a similar season to the last. He's a great motivator but he has yet to prove he can call games in the new NFL, he also hasnt proved that he can manage the cap or scout talent. Since he's come in we've picked up some good players (Portis, Washington, Tupa, Griffen, etc), and some bad -- the draft was VERY questionable. While I think Rogers will make a good pro, I would have rather upped the amount for smoot another million bucks to keep a proven player and go after BMW in the draft. Also, he has no confidence in Ramsey and it WILL chase him away. This isnt an era where you can have a QB sit on your bench for 5 years anymore. Especially a former first round pick - costs far too much against the cap.
So basically, I think that he's a great motivator and teacher, he demands respect. However, let's not try to trick ourselves into think that a majority of the offensive woes last year didnt fall directly on the coaching staffs shoulders, namely the playcalling crew.
