Well, if it would hide the product on the field…. Seriously, the stadium is the least of our worries as the product on the field needs to be better (and consistently). Hoping RR can get us there.

Domes- with out or without retractable rooves- are sterile, untraditional, mall-like, devoid of character, and just plain ugly.

Saints usually play great at home..

The Bills are actually talking about a new stadium in Buffalo, some players have said they would like a dome.. Fans want open stadium for the weather advantage.. I have been to a snowy game and it's cool for about a QTR then it starts to suck

Virginia is gettin' all hot and bothered about a potential stadium here.

I do find it funny how the times change though - 4 years ago it seemed like no state/DC was willing to work with the team to find a new home and now they're all competing against each other. Hope "intense competition" was the right choice of words here.

Modern Dome stadiums are not the same as the orginal domes in most senses. Vegas, SoFi, Arizona, a dome like that would be awesome and would attrach a super bowl as well to DC/VA

Is any stadium deal predicated on the local municipality pricking up the tab or is Snyder going to pay for most of it with some requisite concessions?

I think Vegas' stadium is the best of the newer domes.
I'd put Minnesota second.
Then LA's.

And it could host not only Super Bowls, but NCAA Final Fours in hoops, and college national champ games too.

They almost certainly expect the municipality to pick up the tab which is why I just don't see a new stadium deal anytime soon.

Looking at NFL (or College Football) Stadiums that I´ve seen on TV or pictures I notice that in the US it´s mostly "completely open" or "dome". Please correct me if I´m wrong.

In Germany or Austria it´s mostly "open field but a roof over the stands". For examples, please google Fritz-Walter-Stadion or Allianz-Arena.

So, basically, you still have the weather influencing the game as it should be for an outdoor sports but the fans are at least dry even when it´s raining.

You are more or less correct.

Seems to be two schools of thought. There are the purists who like grass fields, open air stadiums and feel the weather is part of the experience. The Packers, Steelers, and Redskins exemplify this.

Then there are those who like hyper-modern, newer the better places including domes. The Raiders and Cowboys would be students of this school.

I get the economic value but I just don't know if it translates to a home field advantage come playoff time for the on field product. I will have to see if I can find it but I read an article a few weeks ago how home teams in a dome at playoff have a lower winning percentage than open air stadium teams. Of course to an owner that is meaningless as it is all about economics.
