Re: Pats Pregame Thread

Keeping Colt had to be 100% Gruden. Once that choice is made you are forced to cut a player like Holz or Parham. Solely Grudens responsibility.
Having Reed on the team is the same except likely falls on BA for not trading him in the offseason.

Re: Pats Pregame Thread

Biggest game of the year.
Gruden rolls out Colt as a FU to Dan and Bruce(and the fans?) then gets fired on Monday.
On Tuesday, we start the offseason thread and talk about getting a 3rd rounder for Trent since they already fucked up getting a first.

The offseason is 12 weeks early this year! Lets Party!!!! WOOOHOOOO!

The chances of the Redskins pulling a surprise went out the window last Sunday when Buffalo made the Patriots fight tooth and nail for a win.

I'm not checking out but I've started thinking about how I don't want to lose a chance to play golf on one of the last nice weather days before it turns cold.

When the team was 7-9 and crappy I still didn't do this. It's actually come to that now. Kind of unbelievable.
Same here man, I will work the game Monday but on Sunday I'm watching other games

Jay Gruden might as well be scouring this weeks fantasy waiver wire after saying we dont have a starting qb right now...

“[The offense] makes you defend everything -- the running game, the play action, the quick throws, the screens and the vertical passing game where they’ve hit a number of big plays,” Belichick said. “[Head Coach Jay] Gruden does a good job of springing those guys free and getting them vertically into the defense for potential big plays.”

The offense fits into Gruden’s philosophy and background, Belichick said, meaning it has flashes of the West Coast style and gives the quarterback the chance to make decisions and get the ball to their skill players.

^^ from the article above ...

Im sure BB is just coach speaking but I do think our passing scheme is the only thing we do well and the only thing I think Jay has 100% control over. This seems like Kyle Shannahan all over again .. a good offensive coach that we over look or under value bc of all the other chaos and failure around us.

Jay is a top 15 offensive coord but a bottom 15 head coach.

Straight up bulletin board material there. Every player on the Skins knows that's a joke. Problem is they won't even be competitive into the 2nd quarter.

They get vertically free and Keenum throws it way too vertically over their heads.

Top 15 passing game coordinator. Worst running game coordinator. He is mediocre at best as an OC too imo.

I blame Callahan for the run game. I dont think Jay had any say so in hiring or retaining Manunsky or Tomsula but he gets blamed for hiring and not firing them. I honestly dont think he has the power to hire or fire his own coaching staff. I think jay was forced to allow Callahan to be the asst off coord and come up w the weekly run game plan. We know Jay had no input on the trade for Alex Smith or drafting Haskins.

I think Jay only has strict control over the passing scheme. He has never gotten the chance to draft or add a QB of his choosing. I only judge Jay for the passing scheme ... and our passing scheme is the only thing that we do well. We have guys open .. problem is either our subpar QBs dont see them, over throw them or the line doesnt hold up.

Belichick is praising the passing scheme, which is kinda like his and McVays etc .. west coast but always looking for the big play potential. Making a key defender have to make a decision, allow the QB to only have to read that key defender and based on what that key defender does, the QB knows where to go with the ball.
