Re: Redskins Bye week
JD needs more looks, but at the same time you earn more looks by making plays when you do get the looks which he hasn't done yet. It's a catch 22.

Re: Redskins Bye week
Yeah really the most important thing is for him to make Alex Smith feel confident in throwing to him. That needs to be established in practice or Alex will progress right past him in games.

Re: Redskins Bye week
At this point Doc is basically Taylor Jacobs. All we hear about is how great he is in practice. But when the lights come on he is nowhere to be found. Some no name on the Texans came in off the bench and caught 11 balls. When is Doc going to have a game like that? At some point it has to happen or it doesn't and you move on. I'm ready to move on from him after this season.

Im still hoping Doc can develop...but god damn...In order for the offense to take it up a notch we need a contributor on the outside. Next year we shouldnt do this exercise again. I see a lot of under-appreciated WRs across the league making impacts...Jon Brown (coulda signed him fo cheap), Kenny Stills, Robert Woods, Randall Cobb, Sanu, etc.... We need to bring in competition for Doc position if he continues to disappoint. We don't have to spend big money to get a contributor...this offseason we should invest in guy who can play...and it doesn't have to be a Paul Richardson size deal. |

Re: Redskins Bye week
I think we can all agree we'd like to see Doc more involved. He's definitely shown flashes. But is that going to be a consistent thing or just an every ~4 games thing?
Although, I think some big factors have been slowing his involvement; A new QB who isn't known as a risky thrower and a Run-game that has been efficient. A. Smith isn't going to throw those risky balls that Doctson is known to bring down unless he actually has to, as in, we're down 17 points and need some quick scores so we start airing it out. When you play with the lead and the run game can grind away the clock why would you throw risky, jump balls that can stop the clock? I believe this week against the Saints will be different. Brees will definitely get his yards/scores so we're going to need to score a good amount of points as well. If the run game doesn't utterly dominate we'll need to throw some passes. I'd expect Doc to get some looks unless Reed/Thompson take over, which they very well could.

Re: Redskins Bye week
On tape he's just not getting open enough for the looks Alex likes, yes he could get some 50/50 balls but Smith isn't that kind of passer.

Re: Redskins Bye week
This offense is set up to run through Reed, Thompson, Crowder, Richardson, and Davis. Anything JD gives us is gravy.

Re: Redskins Bye week
Talk about an optimistic power ranking note:
15. Washington Redskins (2-1, LW: 18) Washington is in first place and here’s its (fairly easy) schedule the next few games: at Saints, vs. Panthers, vs. Cowboys, at Giants, vs. Falcons, at Buccaneers, vs. Texans, at Cowboys. If Washington can split the next two, the six games that follow aren’t too daunting. Keep that in mind and don’t be too shocked if we see an 8-3 Redskins team traveling to the Eagles for a big Dec. 3 showdown. |

Re: Redskins Bye week
I don't see 8-3 but 7-4 is possible especially if we beat NO

The passing game is Thompson, Reed and Crowder with Richardson as an big play accent. What's lacking is a dependable route runner on the outside...Doctson. This offense could be next freaking level if we had a contributor there. A Kenny Stills, John Brown...we could be top 5. |
