Re: Madden 17
that's insane, but now i know what to expect when i finally make the jump. i've had madden for 360 for about a week now, just made it thru preseason, getting ready to play the steelers on mnf!!!
i came out of the preseason w 5x 1sts, 3x 2nds, maybe 2x 3rds, a 4th, and 2x 5ths. i swapped all the redskins picks because i know we'll win the super bowl, and i don't want to pick 32nd.

Re: Madden 17
Yeah it's not plug and play like it used to be. Games and consoles already have patches and updates waiting before they even come out.

Re: Madden 17
Depends on the game usually, Battlefield 4 was almost unplayable for the PS4 when it first came out, it definitely took a few months for the kinks to get worked out.

Re: Madden 17
i don't think it made me dl anything, just the updated roster if i wanted to play online, took about 10 seconds to dl.
when i started my franchise they had kirk rated at 88 ovr, reed at 97 ovr, and norman 95 ovr, those were great. djax 78 ovr, a slap in the face. i think his spd only 93, and his acc maybe 94.

Re: Madden 17
Yeah, the good old days. Nowadays, I fire up this year's Tecmo Super Bowl on my emulator and get in a game in like 20 minutes. If you are interested, there is an online community that continues to talk about TSB and created ROMs each year. TecmoBowl.org - TecmoBowl.org
I have an OG Xbox that I'll fire up NCAA on from time to time. NCAA was more my speed over Madden. I've been tossing around the idea of a PS4/XOne for a while now to play Madden and other games. The kids have a Wii U, so that for now gets my video game fix. But for the most part, I'm content playing old NES, SNES, Genesis games on an emulator.

Re: Madden 17
i thought it was a carbon copy of last year's game but they actually did make some good changes.
the physics and tackling are greatly improved. one bad change was that they added country music to the soundtrack.

Re: Madden 17
i finally figured out how to trade on this game. unlike previous versions, where you were usually able to acquire any player w draft picks, on madden 17 another team won't trade a player like andrew luck for 3 1st rd picks.
instead i had to acquire players who were greatly valued by the team i was looking to trade w, usually 2 greatly valued players + 1 moderately valued player or a draft pick. once i finally got the hang of that, i started wheeling and dealing. skins looking pretty good in 2018; $2.5m dead cap, $450k cap space, only a handful of guys have guaranteed money since i traded for most of them or re-signed them w 0 guaranteed money. i'll probably trade kerrigan and let scherff walk in 2019. qb: andrew luck 99 ovr rb: bell 99 ovr fb: matt jones 91 ovr wr: odb 97 ovr, landry 93 ovr, doctson 85 ovr te: reed 97 ovr, some snot-nosed rookie 82 ovr lt: williams 92 ovr lg: iupati 97 ovr c: frederick 95 ovr rg: martin 99 ovr, scherff 85 ovr rt: second year guy 88 ovr le: cam jordan 99 ovr dt: donald 99 ovr, cox 99 ovr re: wilkerson 97 ovr lolb: houston 98 ovr, kerrigan 91 ovr mlb: j.j. watt 97 ovr, brandon marshall 90 ovr rolb: von miller 98 ovr cb: norman 97 ovr, harris jr 94 ovr, peterson 93 ovr fs: mathieu 99 ovr ss: smith 99 ovr k: carpenter 81 ovr p: way 86 ovr

Re: Madden 17
i know i'm just farting in the wind here but here da the 2019 skins:
qb: andrew luck 99 ovr, second year guy 81 ovr rb: bell 99 ovr, third year guy 88 ovr fb: matt jones 91 ovr wr: odb 98 ovr, hopkins 98 ovr, landry 95 ovr te: reed 95 ovr, rookie 84 ovr lt: williams 93 ovr lg: scherff 89 ovr c: frederick 95 ovr, third year guy 84 rg: martin 99 ovr, rookie 85 ovr rt: third year guy 94 ovr, rookie 82 ovr le: d lawrence 99 ovr, nkemdiche 84 ovr dt: donald 99 ovr, cox 99 ovr re: watt 99 ovr, l williams 93 ovr lolb: houston 98 ovr, rookie 84 ovr mlb: kuechly 99 ovr, bowman 87 ovr rolb: von miller 98 ovr cb: norman 96 ovr, harris jr 95 ovr, peterson 94 ovr, third year guy 85 ovr fs: mathieu 99 ovr ss: smith 99 ovr k: carpenter 82 ovr p: way 91 ovr not sure why reed and norman got worse. $100k in cap space, $9.53m dead cap. looking at $1.72m dead cap and $25.3m cap space for 2020.

Re: Madden 17
That's a heck of a lot of trading you must be doing there. Looking pretty loaded.

w so many stars and their salaries on the rise each season, i had to get creative w cap space. one trick is trading all draft picks 2 years into the future so i don't have any rookie pool counting against my cap while re-signing players or entering free agency. after free agency (and trading most/all of the players i've signed in free agency) i'll trade back into the current draft using the future picks. another trick is cutting a player and re-signing him if his contract is about to explode in the following season. for example, before the 2019 season i cut t williams and his $8+m 2019 salary, absorbed a minimal dead cap hit in 2019, and a $1.7+m dead cap hit in 2020. immediately re-signed him for 1 year / $7+m in 2019 and will re-sign him again after the season. i think his cap hit would have been something like $13m or $14m in 2020, now it should be around $5m or $6m.
