A name to temper the optimism: Matt Flynn.

This is a very high risk move, IMO. I don't doubt his ability to do a great job as GM.

McCloughan may be a genius, but he won't succeed here if Gruden and his staff don't develop his players. Seattle and San Francisco have great coaching staffs. Gruden hasn't proven a thing yet.

That's my worry. The stress/drama going to make the guy go back to binge drinking. Let's hope for his sake and for ours that doesn't happen.

"Gruden hasn't prove a thing" isn't true. What about Andy Dalton? He's no Rodgers, but better than any QB we've had the last two seasons.

Pete Carroll wasn't very good the first go round. Takes good players.

I was talking about Gruden and his staff here in Washington.

They go hand-in-hand.

According to some of the DC ESPN affiliates, he's the kind of guy who tries to...."control" his drinking with only drinking a beer....now and then.. In all seriousness, that rarely works.
LOVE the move and I hope. LORD HOW I HOPe.....it works

This was my biggest concern above all.

Now, here's hoping we got something long term RIGHT this time!

Re: Scot McCloughan to be new Redskins GM

Really like this move. A true talent evaluator in the position to do just that. Bruce does a good job with the cap, and that is where his focus should lie (as well as being the public face which he is pretty good at). Just glad we have a talent guy who is responsible for acquiring talent and not a cap guy anymore.
