Re: Is Brian Orakpo career as a Redskin possibly over

I will be perfectly happy letting Rak get his bonus money from some other dumb NFL team. Injuries or not he hasn't been worthy of big money. His stock has gone way down this season. I just hope he gets hot in the second half so we can get a good half season out of him before we let him hit the road.

S/N also not too impressed with Trent Murphy at this point. Where's the high motor? Only impact I've seen him make is when he's costing us big plays on special teams.

To answer OPs question. Yea it probally is. Now hell get signed by the Patriots or something and somehow stay healthy for them and have multi sack games something some players just cant do with us. We degress without him regardless he draws attention. I dont watch tape but just from what ive seen kerrigan usually gets left one on one Orakpo takes all the heat so youll notice a difference in Kerrigans production without him.

It was probably over for him even before today, unless he was to go on an incredible run.

I think Orakpo should be a 4-3 DE. I think he will sign with a 4-3 team and be better there as a DE than he was for us. But we cant pay him to be an OLB in a 3-4. Hes not as bad as some say, but no where near worth what he is getting paid. Now, if he was willing to take 5 mil per year then maybe. But I dont see him taking that and im sure some team will pay him a pretty big chunk of change.

Not if he's coming back from injury (3rd pectoral injury) and having a subpar year. He's got a red flag attached to him if this is a pectoral season ending injury.

Yea he needed to stay healthy to keep that stock up. We always hold players a season too long, we should have let him walk this year.

Does Orakpo even play for us now? I hadn't noticed. Apparently he plays the "invisible linebacker" position.

good luck to that team that runs this magical 4-3 he fits better into. he has never played DE in 4-3 in the NFL....he sucks at keeping contain as a OLB so wouldn't be much better in the 4-3 and also is not that great tackling.

Yeah, another team will probably pick him up. The guy's not awful, he's just not a playmaker anymore.
Never truly was in my opinion. He has to be one of the most overrated Redskins players of all time. He has one pass rush move, does not get consistent pressure, and never did even when he had solid sack numbers for a few seasons. He has 6 career forced fumbles. That is pathetic. This is his 6th season. Kerrigan has 12 and this is his 4th year. Orakpo has 1 career interception. He was never a real playmaker. I am not sad to see him go whatsoever after this season.

Re: Is Brian Orakpo career as a Redskin possibly over

It has to be over here. Just hasn't produced what was expected of him. As for being a 4-3 end, he played that position in college so it wouldn't be a stretch for him to start playing it again now.

Trial by fire time might be in order for Trent Murphy.

Most overrated player on the roster. Kerrigan is a far more impactful player. Thankfully the FO didn't commit to Rak beyond this season.

Re: Is Brian Orakpo career as a Redskin possibly over

Brian Orakpo took up $11.46 million of our salary cap this season. We could have gotten a RT and Safety for that. What a shame. Safety and RT HAS to be addressed this off season. No more excuses.
If a good defensive coordinator becomes available this off season, I think it might be time to part ways with Haslett as well. His defense has not played well.
