The pass catchers and rb here are too good to be scoring 21 points a game.
When we were good, in 2012, we killed teams with the read-option, play-action, and Alfred Morris. With Polumbus and others, we're probably still better at run-blocking than pass protection.

Re: How many PPG will the offense Score?

How can we not score more with a healthy, prepared RGIII and the strengthening of the WR and OL groups? Best case Top 10 offense in points. Worst case middle of the pack in points. I'd guess that we can improve to 24 PPG.

We were 17th in Total Yards last season but we didn't stick the ball in the end zone enough. With more and better weapons, we should be able to fix that.

BTW, I do not agree with those who think the running game will suffer under Jay Gruden. The Bengals (no offense intended to people from India or Tigers) ran the ball just fine. Jay will certainly make good use of a weapon like Alfmo.

My glass is half full... We should easily be putting up 3 scores a game. No questions asked.

Re: How many PPG will the offense Score?

Yea it boils down to Griffin dropping back though. Last year he had alot running thru his head i think. He likes to be able to move, avoid pressure, and make a throw downfield. Couldnt do that last year. I think Moses will help with that.

And staying on the brightside.. We no longer have scrubs, yea i said it, like josh morgan NOT GETTING OPEN, and tipping up passes to the defense, there was a good 5 ints last year that actually touched our wrs hands and ended up ints. Horrible, ball security this year. Were improved.

I, too, agree that jay gruden won't abandon the run as a lot are saying. He's stepping into a team that has a very dynamic run offense. All things considered, I think the skins can rak up some serious points this year. It all boils down to if the d can keep the opposing offense off the field. We have too many players on offense to discredit their ability to put major points on the board....

I see Gruden playing to our strengths. That means pounding the rock with plenty of play action off that. The run game scheme isn't going to change much if at all. Still plenty of zone stuff. In the pass game probably a lot of quick stuff, screens, slants, etc.

Griffin seems to be back to his old self, Garçon will be healthy, and Jackson provides the consistent deep threat we've been missing. Throw in Reed who could dominate at TE if he stays concussion free, and this offense might really hum. 24-27ppg doesn't seem out of the realm of possibility at all.

Finishing drives will be the key. Tandler just wrote an article about that, it was a big problem in 2013:

From Rich Tandler's Blog:

"The Bengals attempted 1,764 passes from 2011-2013. Coincidentally, that is exactly as many passes as the Redskins under Mike and Kyle Shanahan attempted. Gruden’s past and present teams tied for 19th in the NFL in pass attempts. The Lions led the league in pass attempts with 2,128 while the 49ers threw 1,430 times, the fewest in the NFL."

Can't believe most you guys predicting 21, that matches last years total and puts the Skin offense in the bottom 10. I think they will at least ascend to 24-27 ppg with a healthy Griffin and be above average. It is the defense that concerns me.

Maybe someone has already said, but how many ppg did the Bengals average? I tend to think we will be in that area maybe +1 for a better qb

Yep, post #4.

The Bengals averaged 26.9 PPG in 2013, but you have to remember they have a better O-line, an elite receiver, and two good TEs; plus Gruden had been there 3 years. 27 PPG isn't a realistic expectation for us... at least this year.

I agree on the better O-Line, but I think we match up on receivers/te/rb, and are better at QB. So I would say we shouldn't be surprised if we match them, and if we underperform them by a TD a game, that would be a disappointment.
