2) We should celebrate a player who was on the street in 2004 and made himself into a deserving pro-bowler and a fan favorite.
Agreed on both points!

Big Mike Sellers, what a career! He was the senior most Skin if i'm correct, having played 2 stints here. As several have said, no surprise here really, but always sad to see a guy like him go.

Def a good Skin'. Allot of memories from Big Mike, but as others have said, its definitely time. I was really surprised he made it last year, but if he plays elsewhere I wish him luck...but I think this is prob the end of the line for him.

[quote=Mattyk;896031]Sucks to see him go, I'll always remember him fondly for his monster hits, this is one of my favs

Just brutal

I remember that.
He had a few more highlights that day and we destroyed Detroit in that game.

Great locker room guy, hope they find a way to keep him in the Redskins organization. His playing days are likely done but I'd like to see him as a lifelong Redskin.

I'm not dead but this team is dead to me...but now that McCloughan is here they may have new life!

Jay Gruden = Zorny McSpurrier
Kirk Cousins = Next Grossman

Certainly his release is one year later than it should have been - - and perhaps two years later than it should have been.

It says something when fans remember a guy for a couple of big hits over the past 5 years instead of a few game winning plays...

I think that will be remembered as his lasting impact for this team. He always came and played hard, no matter the circumstances. And besides, since when are FB's known for game winning plays? I'll remember his timely big hits on offense and special teams and the way he used to go all "road grader" on guys back in his time. I felt he was a big part of Portis' success.

I LOVED him a few years ago, but as many have said he added almost nothing to the team the last year or two. I don't know if it was his size catching up to him, but he missed so many blocks, he made himself almost a liability.

How many fullbacks in the modern era get remembered for game winning plays anyway?

Edit: Sorry mooby, I wasn't trying to steal your point. Great minds think alike at the same time.

Well said.

Sad to see him go, but it was definitely time. Maybe he will be back in a coaching/personal type role.

Thanks Big Mike

Sellers could have still contributed to the offense and special teams. But this team needs to get younger. They had him as Joe Bugel would say, on scholarship last year. It was past time for his Redskin tenure to end. I hope he goes into coaching.
