Re: Optimism!
I am sure I am going to get some sh*t over this, but I'd like to see better leadership from Mike Shanahan. I don't doubt that he has the ability to do so, heck the guy has won two SBs. However, looking at the teams that played this past Sunday, I think a lot of their success comes from their coaches (esp Darth Hoody). I want to see MS be able to motive this team and start winning big games that matter.
I know we need talent, but I feel at times this season the team played without any motivation and at times it seemed that they quit on the field. I don't want to see anymore ego battles between MS and players. What I want to see is a team that is willing to do anything for their coach. One thing I admire from Bill Belichick is that he seems to motivate his team to do anything.

Re: Optimism!
Oh right...wait let me correct that....
So Mike Shanahan will bring Peyton Manning, and that will be the last piece to this well oiled machine of a team. SB here we come!!!!

The Giants and Pats are very talented teams #1, and #2 have had their coaching staffs in place for several years. I think that's the key to their sustained success more than anything. |

Re: Optimism!
We also beat Dallas twice in their last super bowl year, 95-6. Kinda similar to this team, that team was trying to rebuild & had some youngsters replacing the old Gibbs' guys, about all of which were gone except D. Green. Think that team was 6-10.
Next year we were 9-7 & didn't make the playoffs after a 7-1 start. The 2000 Skins also beat both superbowl teams & one of the nfc finalists. They finished 8-8. |

And he's going to motivate everyone! I'll expect him to show up to my job and yell: Advise that student! Advise that student!

They are younger, have all their draft picks for the next 2 years and have money to spend in free agency. Despite the 5-11 record, I LOVE the direction they are heading and truly believe they will be a consistent contender starting in 2013. If they focus on Offense in the draft and add 3-5 starters in free agency, they should be much improved in 2012 and a legit contender after another draft next year. They don't need an all-world QB. If Rex just cut his turnovers in half, they would have won 3-5 more games WITH THE EXISTING TALENT! I have to think they'll find a QB that isn't as careless with the ball and will improve in key areas like WR, O-line and the secondary. There is a fine line between winners and losers in the NFL, and the Skins ARE NOT THAT FAR OFF!!! HTTR!

Re: Optimism!
I'd like to see better decision making from the head coach. Whoever it was to give up a 2nd rounder for Donovan McNabb in 2010 and head into the 2011 season with only Rex Grossman and John Beck atop the depth chart needs to be held accountable. We know how awful the quarterback position has looked for the past two seasons. Giving that McNabb did have better statistics in 2010 than Beck or Grossman had in 2011, the offense still came up short the last two years. Mike Shanahan, who is to blame for this, did do very good in bringing in Evan Royster and Roy Helu and the running game while not the best in the NFL, was effective at times this past season. Throw in the trade for Jabar Gaffney and drafting Leonard Hankerson, and it would appear that Washington only needs just a few more parts to become a top 10 NFL offense. A lot has been said about the offensive line, but I like our offensive line. Fred Davis and Chris Cooley is a great tandem at tight end. Defenses I believe are more afraid of Davis in the passing game. The Redskins just need a few more pieces on offense- pieces that can be acquired through free agency namely or the draft.

GOOD QBS make for GOOD O LINES. Sorry ass QBs that hold onto the ball and have no pocket presence make O LINES LOOK BAD. I'm also tired of the stupid "Haven't we already tried that already" argument. YES, the McNabb thing didn't work out, but neither did the Schuler pick. Now what? Should they never draft another QB in the first round AND never go after a free agent QB? Maybe they should just try sh*tting a QB out of their ARSES. Try everything and keep doing it until it works!
