Well, you never know w/ the 49ers. I mean, look at who they hired for HC! I thought they would go after Denny Green. |

Rattay could be good, but everyone on the roster looks bad because there's not enough talent to help them out!

I think we should trade down and get some more picks. Depending on what we do with Chris Samuels we are def. gonna need a left tackle. We also really need a DE and a center. We also could use a pass catching TE. We also need some depth at DT. Besides Griffen we don't really have anyone that is any good.
But most importantly we need a new offensive coordinator. Gibbs system is clearly outdated for the modern NFL and unless he makes some big changes, our offense is gonna struggle. |

I don't see Leinart staying at SC after this year...even if they lose to the Sooners in the Orange Bowl. He'll go #1, and it may not be the 9ers taking them. The 9ers need so much help that they may trade down to acquire more for that pick. Mel's big board doesn't have a single QB in the top 10.
I also don't see how we're number 5, when we have the same record as 2 teams we've beaten (Bears, Bucs)...shouldn't they be below us in the draft sequence? A quick peek at teamrankings.com puts the bears slightly ahead of us (should change next week after the Vikes game), and we're well past Tampa and Arizona... IMO, the Skins can definitely stay at 5 and fill all their needs in the offseason. Mike Williams or Braylon Edwards would be a great addition, however our downfield passing game is non-existant. Plus we have decent downfield threats in Coles and Jacobs (depending on Coles' status going into next season). Gardner has had a decent season, and we're getting good production out of the H-B/TE position. We don't have pressing needs on the O-Line, minus Center. Injuries really killed us, and I dont see Ray Brown coming back. There are plenty of O-Lineman late in the draft to pick up. IF G Williams is back, defense will not be a problem. It would be nice to keep around the group we had this year. Hard nosed guys (similar to Mann, Manley, Butz, Koch, et al, but not as talented) who dig in the trenches and allow our LBs to run free. Trading down (which i voted for in haste) doesn't make sense. We need a young playmaker...which we'll get moreso at 5/6/7/8/9... if the season ended today, my top 5 for the Skins pick would be Dan Cody (DT - Oklahoma), Erasmus James (DE - Wisconsin), David Pollack (DE - Georgia), Vince Carter (C - Oklahoma), Braylon Edwards (WR - Michigan). I'll assume that Mike Williams goes before the Skins pick...

Im pretty sure we dont have a second round pick, we traded it to get cooley, which seems to have worked out. And as of now i think we have our third still, but dont count on having it come draft day, lol. Mabye Vinny T or Chris Chandler or some other agless wonder is out there looking for a big contract and a starting qb spot. I say either get Mike Williams, or a top flight end. I worry that our defense over achieved this year and we could still bolster our dline. But at the same time how can you ignore our pathetic offense that needs a deep threat spark. Coles could be that guy but as some of you said we dont know about his toe.

Mike Williams or Braylon Edwards look really good right now. But I voted trade down as we could get more bang for the buck with 2 late picks or three picks to round 2.

I'm for trading down from around #5 and picking up Erasmus James around #10 and a center with a second rounder.

you guys know my choice... watching the game yesterday, it is easy to blame the loss on one or two plays. throughout the game, my biggest problem was moving the chains- i swear we should not have had 3 and outs against one of the worst secondaries in the nfl this year. you look at the cowpukes and at least keyshawn was there to make the vital first down grabs.
mike williams solves this problem- if we pick 5th, i don't know if he's still there. the niners may actually go with rodgers before leinart if they decide to go qb... but in all honesty, they need a receiver in the worst way- cedric wilson and brandon lloyd aren't exactly scaring any defensive coordinators at night. |

Mike Williams will be there at 5. He was like a 10-20 pick last year, why would people jump on him after a year off? I think Edwards might even get taken over him. That being said, I'm torn. We really arent getting a lot of pressure w/o blitzing, which poses a problem, but our offense is clearly a problem, so I say we have to go that way. I'm for drafting Williams or a Pass rushing DE. We need a new Center and maybe draft a gaurd.

William's doesn't solve a thing are we to draft a reciever so we can throw hitches? Were better off drafting some running back's and putting them on the outside, our problem isn't WR's, it's Gibb's conservative play, I say trade down, trade Gardner, Samuel's, Morton if possible, I would also trade off Lavar why he has value he makes the Portis and Brunell deal's look like monitary steal's, simply THE MOST OVERATED, OVERHYPED PLAYER IN THE NFL! Then take whatever pick's we come away with and go O-line starting with a center, we can get another reciever at some point and a D-lineman, that's the direction we should go. |

Let's at least be logical about next year. Trading half the team isn't going to happen unless we'd like to drown in cap hits.

I'm sticking to my guns and saying we draft Mike Williams if he's available but if not then trade down, get bralin edwards or a highly ranked guard like elton brown from uva and then use our 2nd rounder on either the best wr available if we didn't get edwards or the best center available. We can get a solid de in the 3rd and 4th rounds cuz some guys r going to be deemed undersized or run bad 40s and be overlooked. and of course my favorite pick that I've been screaming for since the spring for next years draft is chris canty who would be a steal in the 3rd or 4th rounds IF he is fully recovered from his leg injury. and I know we're very solid at lb if peirce resigns, but does anyone know when the mlb from florida st.(can't remember his name) will be eligable for the draft cuz every time i saw florida state play defense that guy was everywhere in a heartbeat.

Do we have enough cap room to sign a high first round pick? I think trading down makes more sense, so we get more bang for the buck.
Beyond that, let's not make this overly complicated: our offense sucks and our defense is great. So, let's tinker with the offense first. We need a deep threat, to keep secondaries honest, and so defenses can't stack the line of scrimmage to stop Portis. We also need to upgrade the offensive line, big time. Gibbs' offense is built around the run; we should draft the best center we can. Fortunately we get Jansen back next year. |
