Last game between G-men and Eagles made it more clear for me. Everyone keeps talking about the punter and Desean Jackson, but Vick won the Eagles that game. Vick in a close vote with Brady. Rivers and Ryan are both great this year, but are 3 and 4 in my book.

Vick is a distant third, and while he's a nice candidate, I don't see what he brings to Philadelphia that Jammal Charles doesn't bring to Kansas City or that Arian Foster doesn't bring to Houston. Those would be my top five, anyhow.
Idk about Charles because he splits the carries with Jones so much, in fact I think Jones is the starter on most games (i could be wrong). I'd say McFadden over Charles simply because he's carried that team on almost every Sunday.. The guy is becoming a true Workhorse.

And Charles and Foster are the best open field players in the game of football right now.

Vick's having the best year of his career, throwing the football, bar none. He's completing 64% this year, and I'll be the first to admit (or second, after Andy Reid), that I didn't think he had it in him. He's brought big play ability that the same offense couldn't have gotten with Kevin Kolb.

But the same offense would still have been highly productive with Kolb in there. There's no way the Chiefs or Houston have good/great offenses respectively without Charles or Foster, respectively. Houston would still have a passing game to lean on, at least. Kansas City would have five wins, max.

McFadden is another stud this year, no doubt, but his poor games against Kansas City, Pittsburgh, and Miami would hurt him in the MVP race. He's been fantastic for 70% of the season, where as Charles and Foster have been studs the whole season.

I don't think you can possibly hold any of Thomas Jones' struggles against Jamaal Charles, but I will say this: if Kansas City makes the playoffs, their front office, right down to their head coach, have no one to blame but themselves.

After Charles and Foster, then I'd say Peterson, McFadden, and Jones-Drew would be the other players in the running for RB of the year. But Charles and Foster are the MVP candidates. And by MVP candidates, I mean: they'd win the award of they rushed four 500 yards with 700 yards from scrimmage in the last two weeks. Just: still in the race.

I don't think the Eagles win the NFC East with Kevin Kolb at QB. I think they finish 2nd to the Giants.

But they still win 10 games comfortably and make the post-season, possibly making some noise as a lower seed. Vick just makes them the NFC's best team playing at his current level.

I'm a big Rivers fan, he's really cemented himself as one of the top guns in the league

Hey, you were the first one to say Foster = Vick. I said they are equally valuable to their teams and in the MVP race. They don't even play the same position.

Vick's a quarterback. If you can't appreciate my position that other players at other positions are having as good of a year as Vick -- a guy who has played in just 11 of his teams 14 games -- then it should be a QB award only.

And Vick is clearly not one of the best two quarterbacks this year...even once you include his league-leading rushing value.

Re: Your 2010 NFL MVP is?

I think Brady will win.

If you think Jamal Charles is worthy, then you have to think Maurice Jones-Drew is equally worthy.

Foster is hampered by the fact that his team will not make the playoffs.

Rivers is hampered by the "no-show" status of his team for about 4 games this year.

Some folks who WILL NOT win the award and have not been mentioned here but who have had very good years on 2010:
Jay Cutler
Josh Freeman
Troy Polamalu
Peyton Hillis
Matt Cassel
Darren McFadden

Maurice Jones-Drew is a great player having a great year. Saying that he's equally worthy as Jamaal Charles would be the same as saying that Drew Brees is equally worthy to Tom Brady.

If you expand the scope of the argument beyond this season, you might find Brees to be every bit as good as Brady historically. But based on just performance in 2010, they're not close. Neither are Jones-Drew and Charles. Which is not a knock on Jones-Drew or Brees. They're just not in the MVP discussion in 2010.

Definitely, however I believe the reason people are reluctant to put him in the same class as Brees, Brady, or Peyton, is because he hasn't won in the playoffs yet. Once he does that, he'll attain the superstardom that he deserves.

Yeah he does need to start racking up some playoff wins.
