Re: Larry, Sonny, and Sam- the radio trio must go
Sam should have been replaced a few years ago, as he's steadily declined over that period of time. Sonny has been able to keep him in line until this season, when it's been pretty bad. The Redskins respected these 2 gentlemen and kept them together, but I think it's time for both of them to ride off into the sunset. I don't see a future with Sonny and no Sam, so I imagine that this could be their curtain call this season.
Larry Michael is no Frank Herzog, but he's adequate. Just not sure who you would get to replace Sonny and Sam. Is Jake still doing radio work for ESPN 980? I know he was doing post game shows for a while.

I love listening to Sonny Sam and Larry. If my cable wasnt delayed i would watch the game and listen to them call the game, like you used to be able to.

I'm floored at how many of you here actually could have watched the game and choose to do other things and listen to it on the radio. Thats like watching a porn when you could actually be getting laid.

If Brent Musburger was doing the games I wouldn't even be bothered by how bad we suck. His voice is like Velvet and silk.

Please. Watching this disaster of a team doesn't remotely resemble anything as fun as watching porn or getting laid.

I remember how painful it was to listen to Sonny and Sam before I left the area 5 years ago. I could only imagine how bad it is now.

Re: Larry, Sonny, and Sam- the radio trio must go
Back before I had the ticket I would listen to the Skins home feed online and I just never understood why people liked Sonny and Sam so much.
I guess it's the whole nostalgia thing and the fact they've been doing it for so long, I get that. But take the homer factor away and it's a piss poor broadcast team. Larry is fine as a play by play guy, but Sonny & Sam are horrible. But then again most teams radio guys are bad. They're usually ex-players, they're paid by the team, and they just root for the home team. Gets old really quick. |

Re: Larry, Sonny, and Sam- the radio trio must go
For awhile I had to listen to their games because I live in New York, but now I just steal the video feed off the web. My biggest complain about these guys isn't just that they're boring or stupid or inept, but that they in fact are constantly WRONG. They will make announcements as to what happened without waiting for the ref; for example they will declare a first down when in fact there wasn't one. They call completions intereceptions and vice versa. During critical moments of the game, they will shout out what they wanted to happen, rather than what actually did, without understanding that their audience isn't watching the game with them and mistook their exclamation as an actual occurance. My wife pointed out that they sound like two people reacting to a game in living room, rather than hired professionals whose first commitment is to the audience. I'm not sure that they understand the concept of a radio audience. Let me rephrase that; they have no understanding of the concept of a radio audience. If I can't steal a good video feed, I will listen to the game (via nfl.com) through the opposing team's announcers.

Re: Larry, Sonny, and Sam- the radio trio must go
Maybe it was the year we made a run in the playoffs with Gibbs when Randy Thomas was on IR and he was in the booth with the guys and immediately the radio took on a whole new energy and direction -WHERE IS THAT ?!?!?! but the radio hasnt been insightful nor a pleasure to listen to. We need a more current fresher look IMO. Briing back a beloved ex-skin from my generation Sonny/Sam lost their appeal (I am still mad when Sonny wouldn't acknowledge me wearing a sOnny jersey at an away game).
Personally I think if the radio team doesnt have a voice worth listening to and can't be descriptive with what your seeing than I should have gone to the game b/c its not helping out. It would be nice if they changed it up I want to hear insightful experiences into football, redskins, and want to hear funny/good stories inbetween. Our guys have zero personality.Who knows maybe CP will retire and wants a weekend job.

Re: Larry, Sonny, and Sam- the radio trio must go
We need redskins radio to get better b/c on every network there is a cowboy working for that station and they always overlook the positives and never offer anything unbiased. Unbiased or nonbiased idk

Re: Larry, Sonny, and Sam- the radio trio must go
Reading this thread makes me happy I just stick with the tv announcers, even though they did screw up big time yesterday by mistaking the Redskins 4th down as 5th down. I didn't notice that though as I was roughing it out at the game.

Re: Larry, Sonny, and Sam- the radio trio must go
Of course when and if Sonny and/or Sam are fired, some moron will say "Look at Snyder, showing no loyalty to Redskins tradition"
Sam Huff needs to go. Now. No question about it. He's beyond awful.

Would they get fired though? Seems that Danny will let them hang on as long as they want. He's tight with Sonny right? |

I'm sure everybody understands that the guy who will replace them is named Joe Theismann.
