Re: Hall-Haslett Feud

This is a non-story. As everyone else has said, this goes on all the time. However, if I was D Hall I'd probably be in a pissy mood too and quick to snap if I was getting torched every week and starting to look like a scrub. Isn't this the guy that claimed only a few weeks ago that this was his defense like he was getting all Ray Lewis and putting everything on him? So much for that....

He proceeded to fall down trying to tackle Mark Clayton.

Let's hope history doesn't repeat itself against a Bear receiver.

You might need more than hope. I don't think sunshine and rainbows is going to fix this one.

That's exactly why I believe Knox is going to score his first TD of the season against Hall.

And if such is the case I bet the picture I posted above would be their clip art.

Re: Hall-Haslett Feud

If - - I said IF - - this story represented a real down-and-dirty feud between Haslett and Hall and it turned out to be a "loser-leaves-town situation"...

I would have a hard time picking which one I would want to win.

Hall is a solid player, and has made great strides in one of his biggest weaknesses: Tackling.

This guy held Maclin and Jackson in check and didnt allow a bunch of points against Green Bay, The Colts game was a probloem as they played a bunch of zone that Indy shredded.

How quickly we forget as to how each player plays each week. Hall has been a good player this year and far from a scrub.

I know that was overreaction. I suppose a better way to phrase it would have been to say he is one of those all or nothing type of players. Either he does a really good job or he does a really good job screwing it up.

Re: Hall-Haslett Feud

I can agree with that somewhat. I think the times when we don't really see him in a game means he is playing good coverage on his side and is not being targeted as he has his guy locked down.

So unless he makes a big play he is somewhat lost in the game.

BUT he can make some dumb mistakes at times and get burnt by taking poor angles on getting to the ball or playing in the wrong spot in a defensive scheme.

The one thing about corners is every mistake they make is magnified because of what it can mean to the team. One wrong move and we are talking 6 points or big plays. These guys are under such a microscope.

They should be arguing about who's hurting our defense the most. They both are greatly contributing in that area.

Great post....I would argue it is Haslett.
The overall scheme shift is the greatest reason for the decline in defense this year...the front 7 has changed completely...not a single player playing in the same position as last year and the only major weakness was olb....the old adage says....if it aint broke...dont fix it.

It was the offense that was broken last year.
I wish they put all their energy into that first.
Now we have an average offense and a poor defense vs a poor offense and a fairly good defense (last year)

Imagine if we had an average offense and a fairly good defense at the same time!
One can still hope!

Haslett has covered up the scheme shift by switching to more 4 man fronts with two LBs standing up. Competent, but at the same time an admission of failure...for now.

Also, I wonder why the **** were they so much in love with KEMO. I have a hypothesis:
CASEY RABACH. WHY?

Simple, Rabach sucks so much Kemo looked like a god in practice.

Re: Hall-Haslett Feud

Also, Blache's scheme is not the end-all be all of 4-3 schemes. Treating his scheme as such is a great disservice to other coaches' more up-to-date and effective 4-3 schemes.
