Stick a fork in him. Im surprised about Bartel though. My impression from what people had said so far about him was that he was doing well. I thought he had a shot to nail the 3rd QB spot.

Nothing's set in stone yet on the 3rd QB position, if it even will exist

John Beck's 2007 numbers were really, really terrible in any number of ways, but at least his interception rate was respectable.

John Beck Scouting Report - 2007 NFL Draft Prospect

Quote:
2007 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:
John Beck, QB, BYU
John Beck looks to be a top 10 QB, perhaps going as early as the third round, but more realistically probably fourth or even fifth round. His age (at 25) is a concern, as well as being a product of the BYU system that typically plays weaker teams. His arm strength is average, but his strengths include his accuracy and great decision-making ability, thus avoiding turnovers. He also has a pretty quick release and a good presence in the pocket. His height is average for a QB, but is shorter than the premier QBs in this year's draft (Quinn is 6'4 and Russell is 6'6).

John Beck Scouting Report
Quote:
B8 - John Beck, Brigham Young Official Bio
Height: 6-2
Weight: 215
40 yard dash: 4.77
Grade: 55
Strengths:
John Beck has a quick release and is efficient in a short passing attack. Beck has adequate arm strength and is a good character person.
Weaknesses:
Beck has an awkward release, including a low release point at times. He comes from a shotgun based spread passing offense in college and will be forced to adapt to making more vertical NFL throws. He is older than the typical prospect at age 25.
Overall:
Beck has been effective at BYU, but will have a hard time being anything more then a backup at the next level. He is not the athlete many teams are seeking at quarterback and his age is a concern. He is good at making quick decisions and has acceptable arm strength.

This sounds strangely similar to Colt's scouting reports/hype.

Too bad we didn't trade Dutch for Anquan Boldin...

Not sure that I get this move but it is not like we gave up the farm. Dutch was a long shot to be any better than practice squad.

How is his arm strength? It seems like the problem with Rex, and Colt atleast was their arm strength and deep ball throws.

Worse than that. He didn't make it past final cuts for the Las Vegas Locomotives in the UFL and then came to our practice squad in midseason. lolololol

Beck is not NFL material. He simply does not have an NFL arm. Not sure about this trade.

Well I think it's safe to say that with the Raven's new depth at CB they are a lock for the super bowl!
