If you believe the "scuttlebutt" around the league - - which is sometimes wrong but it right more than half the time - - the parting between Marty and Danny Boy was more like the Hatfields and the McCoys than it was an amicable parting of the ways...

Snyder hires the GM first. Then, the GM hires the coach. It's the only way to do it properly.

If I remember correctly when Synder was asked about why he passed on hiring Bobby Bethard his reposnse was something along the lines of "Bethard wanted too much money". So going out and bowing tens of millions of dollars on signing bonuses is not an issue but paying your front office people is?
