Re: Thoughts going into the bye week...
I want to see Kelly given more opportunities, whether we think that he "gets it" right now or not.
I want to see Sellers lead blocking less and Betts in that role more. Heyer has to go back to the RT spot, man does he look helpless out there. He's not the only issue either, but he looked better at RT, let Jones start LT; if Rabach can't get his shit together between blocking, protection, and snaps, put Williams in. Start giving him half of the snaps now. Don't give an extra day off because of the bye, these players get paid to play, they need to practice so that they can play worth a damn. Get Davis working with Wach and Bugel on blocking. Start designing more plays around Thomas and go ahead and see what you have in Mitchell. Take ARE off of punt returns, for good. Try out a couple of guys at KR, it's rare that Rock is a threat to take it past the 30.. that used to be a guarantee with him, now we guarantee the mid 20 yard lines. Despite his longer run tonight, we need something more. Snyder needs to start talking to his personnel guys now about possible draft picks, trades for picks if possible, etc. Hell, who knows if they'll even be here. I don't know who's overruling who in the FO but it's said that they don't listen to our scouts well. I could go on and on but I'm sure that I've duplicated points and others will make the other ones that I could have come up with. |

Re: Thoughts going into the bye week...
I want to see Davis, Thomas, and Kelly (Marko too actually) become a real part of this offense. I dont mean give them a chance here and there but I wanna see them put out there on a consistent basis and THEN if it isnt working than we can come to a real conclusion on where we stand with our receivers.

I think I'll lift weights, try to quit smoking, and forget about football for awhile.

Re: Thoughts going into the bye week...
I agree with most of the statements on this thread. I thought JC would be much improved in his 2nd year of Zorn's WC offense, but he has regressed. It's not all his fault but he needs to secure the ball when he is getting sacked. JC does not have a good O-Line in front of him which means he has to make quick reads, run or throw the ball away. What bothers most about JC is his lack of emotion out on the field. He is so medium I cant tell if we were winning or losing the game. He doesnt show any fire or nor does he show any vocal leadership. It would be shocking if he would chew out a O-Lineman for getting him killed. He is just to nice of a guy to play QB for the Redskins. We will need to bring a new QB in for next season.

Re: Thoughts going into the bye week...
We need to put Heyer back at RT move Mike Williams to RG. I hope Levi Jones can man the RT spot but not sure who is better than Rabach at center. Will Montgomery and Edwin Williams are our opts. Rabach is a backup at best. Lets try to get Marko Mitchell sometime on the field if the season is done. ARE just use on offense and Betts is a no running bum. Rather see Rock carry the ball on 3rd downs.

Re: Thoughts going into the bye week...
This is our worst team and coaching staff and FO people since Snyder has taken over. Worst than Spurrier. Im sick of it. Snyder needs to fire everybody from top to bottom.

Re: Thoughts going into the bye week...
No bro Spurrier is the worst ever Head Coach for the Redskins.

Re: Thoughts going into the bye week...
I still think this is worst because I held no expectation Spurrier would succeed. I felt different about Zorn (especially after the 6-2 start) and this team has more talent than Spurrier squads, so my expectations were higher and I believe this team has fallen farther than any other during DS's reign of terror.

Re: Thoughts going into the bye week...
Changing coaches, be it head coach or otherwise, is not the answer.
What I saw last night vs Philly was a team that did not play to win, but instead, was so scared of failure that they tried to play "not to lose". Hope that makes sense. Campbell is screwed so tight right now that he does not know whether to scratch his watch or wind his ass. It was apparent throughout the game. Several passes, he pulled back, then, tried a diffferent reciever. He was not following his first instinct. What I saw was a terrible lack of execution and confidence. I don't care if you had the late, great Bill Walsh in the booth calling the plays. Plain and simple the offense did not execute, and no team can win if they cannot execute. I think it has gotten so bad there, that, it is not that they cannot execute. It is that they are so afraid of failure, that they are actually scaring themselves away from properly executing an offensive series. |

It's neccessary that they be afraid, not afraid of failure, rather afraid of the consequences of failure. We have a HC that comes on after each depressing loss with a demeanor so simular to the last, his expressions never change. Right now, his team is an extention of that demeanor. Maybe he calls it "staying medium" but at some point in time the HC MUST show some emotion, or feeling of disgust when his team repeatedly turns in less than professional performances. |

Re: Thoughts going into the bye week...
This is probably the most disappointing season I've had in my 20+ years as a Redskins fan. I'm truly embarrassed by the product out there each and every week. That being said, I'd like to see some of the following coming out of the bye week-
-No more ARE on punt returns. He literally brings nothing to that role. Secure hands? Nope, he's muffed and/or been involved in a fumble each of the past 3 games. Explosiveness? Nope, he has zero burst. Fearlessness? Nope, he seems to seek a nice patch of grass to nestle into whenever a defender is within 3 yards of him. He's done, let's get Thomas or Moss into that role full time. -Youth movement time. You drafted Kevin Barnes, Chad Rinehart and Marko Mitchell for a reason. Quit making excuses and play them. So what if they make mistakes, the veteran starters are making mistakes! The only difference is your veterans are making the same mistakes they've made for YEARS (I'm talking about you still not being able to defend a double move Carlos Rogers) and they're not going to change. Let the kids play so you can see what you have! I'd be 100% fine with ARE being inactive with Mitchell replacing him on the active roster on game days. Will Montgomery is worthless, could Rinehart really be worse than him? If there is any bigger indictment of Cerrato, it's that he's made 16 draft picks over the past 2 years and even the 'best pick'-Chris Horton, is playing to his draft spot this year. See if the kids can play or not. -I don't see any point in a QB change. I'm not saying this as a JC fan, but there's no reason to put a 38 year old Todd Collins back there and we hadn't heard a sniff about Andre Woodson since we signed him to the practice squad.
