What do you think motivated the Raiders? When you insult a person or a team like Pierce did, if you have any pride you respond like the Raiders did. I don't know if you watch the game but they physically hurt Philly.

I was talking about Philly. The whole "take it out on blah blah blah". The media will go nuts with that before they play our hapless team.

I just find it funny that some of you are optimistic about playing the eagles next week(a team that always plays us hard regardless) yet...we have lost to three....THREE winless teams! LMAO Were you "optimistic" about those games as well? LOL

What "rest of the season!?" The next 6 teams we play all have winning records! We are a joke.

Are we Redskins fans guys or are we Bandwagon Cowboys fans? You should be kicking a hole in the wall talking about how your team is gonna beat the Sheagles next week because its a new season I am not gonna harp on my skins this week other than the coaching staff and the fact that we expect collins to make us 5-1 with him as the starter when he probably sits bench at practice.

Let me add to this... The Raiders defense held Mr.Westbrook to 50 yards.

Put a fork in it. It's done. It's far beyond done. It's Far Beyond Driven into the dirt.

In the other scenario we see our Skins get blown out in at least half the remaining games, because 1) we face winning teams that play to win and 2) the problems on the oline can't be fixed any time soon and the offense just doesn't score more than 5-10 points/game through the rest of '09.

First of all I don't think the HC or starting QB will make much difference in determining which scenario is more likely, but nonetheless I think the outcome is really important and here's why: a season of blowouts likely puts as much pressure as possible on Snyder to make fundamental changes to the way he runs the Redskins, while a season of close losses probably allows him to maintain the same FO structure. Now, for those of us convinced the Snyder/Vinny FO situation is the root cause of our lousy predicament, it's actually pretty tempting to hope the little man in the owner's box is forced into giving up the reins, firing his weird little toady, and handing the team over to the best GM willing to take the job.

Discuss...
We are already a punching bag for the National football media, and perhaps a few high profile blowout losses, starting with the Eagles next Monday, will force Snyder to realize that his methods have damaged the franchise (and hopefully his bottom line). Fans here have been screaming for years about valuing draft picks, and building up the O-line, but until Snyder is embarrassed nationally or takes a hit financially, I don't see him changing. I for one refuse to buy anything that contributes to Snyder's bottom line until Cerrato is fired.

Re: Looking at the rest of the season...

The rest of this season will be rough. I really think the defense cares, and they are close to being great. The offense has a very long way to go. If this team has no pride, they will continue to play out the rest of the season as you saw today and the last 5 weeks. Sadly such a poor offense could drag down this defense and result in guys not giving it their all. At this point Zorn has completely lost the team.

The thought process that you have to gut the entire team to rebuild is crazy talk. This defense is pretty young, and with the addition of a starting CB and one more LB this would be a top 5 unit next year.

That said offense, it is time to take a very long look in the mirror. A rookie QB would never work unless we are able to replace 3/5ths of this offensive line. Other teams are able to rebuild on the fly and be great. Please think of the Saints in 06, Falcons, Ravens, and Dolphins last year.

I wouldn't feel so depressed about this team if they were playing hard on both sides of the ball but they are not.

Injuries are no excuse. There are 32 teams and they all have injuries, and it is not the end of the year, see the Patriots last year. We have no depth. Teams build depth through the draft, clearly our best player available philosophy has not allowed us to build depth.

A big change in philosophy about building through the draft, and signing free agents who are the best fit for the team, not the Pro Bowl stud who just balled out in his contract year.

Until Dan Snyder realizes this, there is no reason to get excited for Redskins football.

Well said. I will be a much more patient fan if I saw this shift toward stockpiling picks and building quality depth through the draft.
