Michael Oher, can play T or G (2 needs in one pick) round: mid to late first
Andre smith, can play T or G (2) first
Eben Britton, can play T (1) late first
Alex mack, can play C or G (2) late first mid 2nd
Eric wood can play C or G (2) 2nd
Max unger can play C, G, or T (3) 2nd
Will Beaty can play T (1) late 1st- 2nd
Jamon meredith can play T or G (2) 2nd-3rd
Phil loadholt T only 2nd-3rd
Duke Robinson G maybe T (1.5) 2nd
Johnathan luigis C maybe G (1.5) 3rd to 4th
Antoine caldwell C, G (2) 3rd to 5th

I figure we trade down, and trade betts and Jansen, get a 20's range pick and an early second rounder for Oher and alex mack, and with the 3rd rounder we get an OLB or DE
If we trade Betts we need a RB. Who would trade for Jansen? Unless we stand pat, we are not taking a cap hit on him.

Oher isn't making it to the 20s. Mack should be there but you never know. I think any good lineman could be picked higher than the "projections".

Look closer at the cap spreadsheet... trading/cutting Jansen now will cost almost $3 mill whereas keeping him as a backup this year, preferably at G/C, and cutting him next year will save over $2 mill. He's not going anywhere. Similar sitz w/ Betts but only about a $1 mill loss vs gain in '10. If we get another pick this year it probably comes from the tenders we placed on Golston and Monty, which is the smartest way to go.

... btw I'm starting to think all top four OTs will be gone by 13. A. Smith is probably gonna rise in value again, but also consider there are teams, KC as an example, that won't need the services of a rookie QB as we move closer to the draft. Basically I expect the QBs to fall in the draft order and the safer picks, OL and DL, to rise. I think the scenario then is we'll still have a shot at Rey Maualuga, unless Denver grabs him, but he is probably the last player available worth the 13th overall. And for those who automatically think "trade-down" keep in mind few teams will want to trade down if none of these guys are available.

Well GTripp thinks we're getting Suggs in a trade that will cost us 1st round picks in '09 and '10. (I guess using him as a LDE).

I wanted Suggs bad for SLB... not really sure how great he'd be at LDE.

I don't know what the hell we're doing... i probably need to eat some ice cream and go to bed.

Where u been btw... haven't seen any elderly abuse recently.

Ha, I don't think that's actually being considered. I just pointed out that in the way my mock drafts are coming out, the Redskins aren't going to have the available talent they want when they pick, so we could be looking at Cushing or someone at No. 13.

I'm saying that I personally would do a poison pill deal with Suggs. Hate to give up the draft picks, but Suggs is so young, he's basically a draft pick anyway.

Ice cream sounds like a great idea!

I also think the four tackles will be gone.

Maualuga might actually be there when we pick, and Mack will for sure. Thing is, I don't know if either is even going to be on our radar.

I'd go in this order:

Mack
Maualuga
Cushing

And given those options, Suggs! (for WLB of course)

Crap I hope we don't do that. I'd love to have Suggs but not at the expense of draft picks when we've so many needs.

I see it this way. We only have two real needs now for the defense: a linebacker and a defensive end. Seeing how they didn't tender Evans they've probably got something cooking at the park.

The real need is the O-line. I think they've addressed some of our need with Dock coming back. If they don't or aren't able to trade down I think they will take Andre Smith if he falls to us. It would be overkill to get Rey, Orakpo, or Everret Brown to complete our defense when there is still much to be addressed on the right side O-line.

Randy is coming back from a surgery. Jansen and Heyer competing for RT? Yeah right! If anything they'll compete for back up jobs with a rookie if that. I can see Heyer coming in for pass blocking and Jansen subing for the run but they need a stud at RT. I'd like to have J.Smith but his stock is rising. I think they should get the best T in the draft. Although I'd like to get Mack it makes more sense for a T if no one wants to trade down.

I had some business I had to attend to but I was keeping track. I knew this blog would blow it's top when FA started. The big thing next is going to be the draft.

Wait, if we say "If he plays 5 games in the state of Maryland, the contract becomes fully guarenteed", we screw ourselves.

Move the Redskins to DC. Then get Suggs.

Dude the question here is what we do if all top 4 OTs are gone and more importantly maybe what we're doing between now and draft day if the FO feels that is going to be the reality.

... my gut tells me Rey will be last really special talent left @ 13. I basically started to think we'd approach the draft this way by getting the best OT FA in Willis, load up on what DE talent we can, grab the damn punter everyone wants, and then we'd be well set to take Rey. Maybe it still happens this way i guess.

I ice cream is really good you guys... banana split
