Re: Official Inauguration Day Thread
When they stop strong-arming everyone for taxation and start actually obeying the rules outlined in the Constitution then I'll believe. Until then it's the oligarchy's country. I just live here. Everyone makes a big deal about Obama like they did Bush. No one seems to ever hold Congress accountable? They write the legislation and enact it. Most of it is illegal to begin with. I dropped out of politics and into blogs. I wish the Democrats well with running the country. If they only run it into the ground half as much as the Republicans it will be a good start. I entertained the thought of Alaska but it's too cold and the Redskins game wouldn't be on television.

Re: Official Inauguration Day Thread
"All are free, All are equal." ZOMG OBAMA R SOCIALS. I r call for peach. The funny thing is if you guys all came down to Georgia your jaw would drop at the outright stupidity people display when coming up with arguments for why Obama won't be a good president. Among them
"He's not a christain" "He's a socialist" "Bill Ayers, Bill Ayers, Bill Ayers, Bill Ayers, Rev Wright" "Welcome to socialism" "Barrack the magic..." Ok so maybe it's nothing you haven't heard before but the absolute openness and acceptance of such remarks really is enough to make your jaw drop.

To me the whole idea that although the country may be a bit down it is up us all to pull it back up is very inclusive without trying too hard. It reminds me of Kennedy's message "Ask not for what your country can do for you, but for what you can do for your country," but I'm guessing that's what Obama is going for.

Re: Official Inauguration Day Thread
Sorry, I didn't like socialism under GWB nor will I like it under BHO. I don't subscribe to the cult of personality that these people seem to bring with them. The best thing he can do is nothing. I would fully support him doing nothing and would wish him all the best. If he could get Congress to do nothing I'd kiss his rear end. He hasn't said anything new. Nothing has changed. GWB said the same BS when he came there. I'm going to stop. Everyone is happy and I don't want to pee on everyone's happy time. Hurrah Blessed Sword of God Obama! Live long and prosper.

Re: Official Inauguration Day Thread
The Executive/Legislative branch doing nothing would not be anarchy, because all the laws needed to maintain order are already in place. So it's not anarchy, although if no funding bills were passed it would get pretty nasty pretty quick.
I think Trample's points are to the extreme side of Libertarianism, which is to say if the Constitution don't say it the Congress doesn't need to write it. As I put in my sig, it would be nice to see a real attempt at looking at every aspect of government, without either side bringing their petty issues up every time (Obama's quote made me think of how every thread here becomes about Vinny/Danny I may borrow his line and just substitute the word football at the end of it) . Real reform could and should include bringing the education and military establishments away from the union/generals hands and look at what is working. I sincerely hope that Obama lives up to the ideals of his speech. |

If this were a socialist country, I wouldn't be paying 1000 a week for health care, trample.

Not to mention if your going to war Congress must make a clear declaration and not just pass off their responsibilty to the President. Also all power not authorized by the Constitution is delegated to the states. So the Federal government should have no power over education. Hence the Department of Education is an illegal entity. Our schools were the best in the world before the Federal Government became involved. Yeah some areas sucked but look at the state tests before and after the Feds. The tests they had back then a college student today couldn't answer. The military would be just fine if they didn't dandify everything. I asked my DI why we couldn't use flamethrowers or trench knives. I was told that they were inhuman, as if sticking a bayonet in a man's throat was. The Geneva convention is a wad of toilet paper. Ask any Marine from the Pacific Campaigns if they gave a damn about human rights? I had no problems using NBC warfare against the Taliban. The war would be over today if we had. Why we stabbed Saddam in the back is beyond me (Oil)? We sold him the equipment to make all of his chemical weapons, not to mention satelite images of the Persian positions during their war. Anyone who believes there were no weapons of mass destruction is a fool. We still have the receipts. Yes, that's right. The best they can do is nothing. The Founding Fathers meant for the government to be slow and ineffectual to a point. The more they disagreed the less money they'd steal and the more rights we'd have. Whenever they call for bipartisanship I want to vomit. When they say they're going to work together it means you and me (the taxpayers) are going to get sodomized. I'd pay good money to see them fight like they do in Korea and Thailand. Yes, I am a Libertarian. I used to be a Republican. That was before the Bushes. I didn't leave the party. It left me. So guess what. I stopped voting for them and now they can be a minor league team for a generation. Anyone who believes that not voting is wrong. IMO withdrawing in disgust is different than apathy. America you get what you deserve. And right now you deserve The Blessed Sword of God. All hail the Lepper Mesiah! THE MOB RULES! |
