Well deserved, I think it's amazing to think that Vinny and co. found this guy in the 7th round and look at how far he's come today. NFC Defensive Rookie of the Month! Congrats to Horton and congrats to the coaching staff for all the work they've put in with him too.

I think Horton fell so far in the draft because a lot of teams had concerns about his wrist. In college he had a pretty bad wrist injury and the doctors weren't sure if he would ever regain full range of motion in his wrist. Have it not been for the injury concern Horton may have been a 3rd or 4th round pick.

Well deserved. Hope he keeps this level of play up for this season and many to come. Great job to Vinny and the Scouts for finding this kid.

Here's good article on him from ESPN:

ESPN - Redskins' seventh-rounder Horton a quick study - NFC East

This is why you are not a coach. We are all praising Horton because he has been getting turnovers. I applaud him for that, but he is not ready yet.

He actually got the start against Dallas. He was responsible for the blown coverage against Witten on that TD pass that had Washington in a trail technique. After that play Doughty was put pack in, but Horton still saw some reps.

I love Horton's progress but he still has alot to learn.

Even Horton admits his mistakes have been covered up by the 3 INTs.

I thought this was pretty good analysis of the play by Horton - looks like the scheme worked up by Blache worked really well and Horton played it perfectly.

Re: Horton NFL rookie of the month

hey im just saying...doughty is making severe mistakes as well in coverage...sooo my reasoning is, puta rookie out there that is a playmaker and get him some experience or play the vet that has been lackluster and subpar so far.
I know there are doughty lovers on here. Hes a hard working guy, i commend him. But he is the new ade jimoh...responsible for giving up that crucial play in coverage.

Re: Horton NFL rookie of the month

Horton has made his share of mistakes too, but the INTs seem to blind people to that. Blache benched him at one point last week. I think that's just how it's going to go, both he and Doughty will share time and whoever is F'ing up more will ride the pine. Doughty still fills a role here. I just don't understand why some are so eager to push him out.

Its the jimoh factor..the ability to give up that td or big play that couldve sealed the game. Plus i think some people are still missing sean.
I just dont see anything in doughty that ever makes me be like...wow...great play!!! Sure hes in on a few runs, but horton punishes people his reaction time is better, and although he probably makes his fair share of mistakes, perhaps even more than the wily vet doughty does, i think its the glimme that he could turn into a spectacular playmaker on defense. You want to get your playmakers out there.
No doubt horton will learn and make mistakes and doughty plays a role in this defense as a leader and mentor. BUT horton is faster, more intense and 3 years in doughty should be at his peak by now...weve SEEN what the man can do. Hes solid...i wouldnt want him to go to another team. But i would rather see horton in there on the coverage and doughty stuffing the run

Re: Horton NFL rookie of the month

Gotta give Vinny credit especially when most of us don't mind dishing out crap to him. Kareem Moore and Chris Horton are going to be mid to late round gems, just like Golston and Montgomery were. That's 4 finds for Vinny in later rounds.
