Re: Sally Jenkins: Burgundy and Bold
Because she is grandfathered in at the Post. No other self-respecting newspaper would publish her garbage columns ... though there is always the New York Post ....

Re: Sally Jenkins: Burgundy and Bold
Don't read her. What insight does she ever add? Even her compliments are backhanded.
Whatever.

Re: Sally Jenkins: Burgundy and Bold

Re: Sally Jenkins: Burgundy and Bold
It could be that Sally pays a visit here each and every time she writes one of her colums to see what type adverse affect they will have on the Redskin fans.
Maybe if we just ignore Sally she will eventuallly go away. |

Re: Sally Jenkins: Burgundy and Bold
I think the article was pretty good. I like the fact that she posed the "value v. need" dilemna. I think too many people here didn't give JLC & Bos credit for at least stating what is fairly obvious, that the skins didn't draft in a need based approach. Further, all of the high 'grades' we got from espn et al are based on the value of players selected, not how those players fulfill team needs to improve.
The post writers are of course going to be even more skeptical than the nat'l media, because they have dealt closely w/team officials & have witnessed some of the bad times of the Danny era up close. Essentially, I think JLC believes the team should've addressed both lines more, and Bos said that the team used the "best player available" strategy to a flaw. He may be right, I mean i understand the concept, but if taken to an extreme it begins to get illogical. Jenkins article simply states that they were willing to defy conventional wisdom & that the good gm's have done that as well. Of course there's a "dig" in there, as she states that if the wr signings of 06 had worked out, the team probably wouldn't have drafted 2 wr's, maybe not even 1. I can't blame her for that though, the impact of Loyd's signing still isn't over. |

Re: Sally Jenkins: Burgundy and Bold
I think the article was fair. Look guys, we drafted a punter before we got a d-lineman. Thats not gangsta.

Re: Sally Jenkins: Burgundy and Bold
Writers in DC love getting people fired up esp sports fans because they know how easy it is to do so.
