3:10 to Jordy-ville!

I think that going to Jordy will not be a stretch in the 2nd. Considering that there WILL be a run at receivers from the end of the 1st to the middle of the 2nd round.

If we don't address that position of WR early we may be left up sh*t's creek without a paddle when it comes to getting quality talent at WR in the first few rounds of the draft.

Think about it. Getting a qulaity Wr has to be a priority because we have a QB that needs better weapons. By better I essetially mean drafting a taller WR, with good intangibles, goo dupside, and good collegiate production that will be an investment into Jason Campbell. We can not "hope" to have someone falls to us or find a diamond in the rough.

Every other franchise drafts a WR when they get a franchise QB, with the exception the Eagles and see how there offense is without one. When they have TO, they were a force. We need to invest in JC and one of the best ways to do that is to get GOOD talent early at the WR position, lest we end up stalling in the redzone, faltering without quality depth, and having the smurfs for one more term.

I hate to say it but Mix has shown more than anyone coming out of the draft. He played Pre-season with the Giants and supposedly looked good. He has been a Special Teamer with us and has been awsome. I'll take Mix over anyone in the draft right now, but it would be nice to get another tall WR that may be able to contribute or if nothing else then to grow with JC.

This is all fine speculation, but I seriously doubt if anyone on here has ever seen this 6'5" 235 lbs WR ever run a route or catch a pass, for that matter. The answer is no!

The only thing we have seen is Mix makes special teams tackles. Lets wait, give him some competition in camp via the draft (***Insert Shameless Jordy Nelson plug here ***), and then see who breaks out and develops into a threat for our passing game on day one.

And, now that we have an extra 3rd round choice at #96 overall, we can afford to take him in the bottom of the 2nd round.

McShay is nuts, but that wouldn't be a necessarily poor use of our first two draft picks.

Not sure Jordy can fix the OL all by himself though. I mean, I don't think we are obligated to take a OL guy on the first day, but if we were going to pass on one, I would hope that we could get someone a little more valuable than Nelson.

Of course, if we couldn't, I'd welcome Jordy to Washington with open arms.

We don't need Renaldo Wynn all over again, especially a young Renaldo Wynn coming off a Hernia surgery.

People say Merling is cmplete DE, and I dont disagree. What I do think is that for a 1st round pick, as a DE his specialty is run stopping and his pass rush moves(which we need) are extremely limited.

Scouts liken him unto Justin Smith ( former Ist round pick that never turned out to be the sack master that they had hoped for).

JORDY boy went from a 79 to an 84!

Translation:
79 = late 2nd/early 3rd round
84 = late 1st round(potentially) but most likely mid to early 2nd round

WE NEED TO GET HIM FAST!

Right after you admit that I was right about Albert being a 1st round pick. Possible top-10 pick to be exact (which I'm not happy about by the way but at this point I'll take what I can get) .

But yeah, I wonder if scouts have been trying to kill Jordy's stock up this point in hopes of getting him in the early 3rd round. Either way he's looking more and more like a lock to be a second round pick. However the fact that guys like Sweed, Hardy, Kelly, and Thomas could all drop to the early second makes picking Jordy in the late second a possiblity.

I think the knock on Jordy is the fact that he doesn't show the second gear that you see in guys like Desean Jackson and Devin Hester. Even a guy like Maningham has it, and I read on Redskins.com that the team has a huge interest in Manningham.

I also noticed the change in the Insider rating. I remember thinking "wasn't he in the late 70's" before. However I though nothing of it since countless other prospects that have risen up draft boards yet haven't had their profiles changed at all.

Unfortunately my latest line in draft wishes is for the Skins to move up to the Bears spot and take Chris Williams the LT out of Vanderbilt. Which apparently would cost the Skins their first and second round pick, but given the desire of teams to move down the chance to get away with trading a 1st and 3rd remains a possiblility. Personally I don't want to think of what happens if Chris Samuals goes down, and from what I've read Williams is good enough to play Guard for the time being.

Other then that I would love to see the team invest 2-20 in the tackle/guard out of Va Tech in Duane Brown. I love Jordy, but personally right now I think I would rather have Duane. The good news is that Duane is likely the pick if we trade down, and the Skins could use one of their newly acquired second round picks to select Jordy or Kelly, and then use the early 3rd to get a penetrating DT/DE combo in Hamptons Kendall Langoford. After which they can use that 3rd comp pick to take their FB and fan favorite for the next ten years in Owen Schmitt.

The wild card in all this is Tulanes Matt Forte, who apparently is a person of interest with the Redskins front office, and considering the fact that the team drafted Betts, when Davis was in his prime makes taking Matt Forte in the third a distinct possibility, especially if they decide to move Betts before the draft.

Anyway good to see people posting again.

Why is that ratings change relevant. They change all the time, that doesn't make them more accurate. It's just a stab in the dark for them.

I wouldn't mind taking Jordy Nelson or James Hardy in the second round, since that is where most receivers are projected to go and there's most likely gonna be a run of them, so we should snatch one of them up while we can. If Brandon Albert fell to us at #21 I'd take him in a heartbeat, I think he's a safer bet than any of the first round DE's and there aren't any WR's I want to take with the #21 pick. I like Devin Thomas but I'm starting to slip on him a bit.

The ratings change is relevant because it shows that he is being looked at by more teams. And if he is moving up, then someone, is consequently, moving down.

From a former walk-on struggling to get on the field at strong safety to one of the premier receivers in the collegiate ranks. A hard worker and the kid can play. He is big 6'3 and smart. Basically everything we need in a WR. We'd be fools to pass him in the 2nd this kid has skins core player written all over him.
