Awful hard on the FLA. peops there Daseal! Maybe if you qualified that to apply to pro sports only.

Football is huge in Fla., there is some of the best high school & college ball in the country. I think that's the problem J'ville has, they're competing against U. of Fla, Miami & Fla. St., all of which have been powerhouse programs over the last 20 yrs. or so. Now Central Fla. & USF are also competitive.

Doesn't mean that people can't support both, but their loyalty is toward tradition & J'ville doesn't have much of one since its only 12 years old.

This is a business dispute, pure and simple. Everyone fights for their best interests, including me and you. As the stakes get bigger, people tend to be even more stubborn and fierce in fighting for what they think is rightfully theirs. Football players and owners are no exception. So, there is no "good" or "bad" side in this dispute - each side is rich and wants a bigger slice of the pie.

From all the post around here the past couple of weeks it sounds like some fans might strike. The best way to show Snyder how you feel is to drop your season tickets. I'm keeping mine but I would like better seats.

Exclamation Be Prepared...Player lock-out looming in 2011

It looks like the era of labor peace in the NFL is coming to an end. With the money at stake and the bankroll of the NFL Union, a protracted lock-out is a very real possibility.

ESPN - Storm clouds gather and lockout looms large in NFL labor strife - NFL

Could the next three years be the swan song of the NFL as the most popular/profitable sport in the US?

If the owners are dumb enough to opt out of the CBA, bring an end to the era of parity, and send player salaries even higher.....well, they deserve what is coming to them.

interesting to see that the owners have instituted a debt limit. I thought that Snyder might be preparing for the end of the cba by saving his money now, but it may be that he has a ways to go to get under the debt limit by 2010 & needs to start now.

Tampa Bay has absolutely no problem with selling tickets. Sure they once did, but by the categorizations above, no one does right now. And the Bucs haven't been doing it for a couple of years, they are on 10 years of consecutive sellouts. Best bet is to stay away from generalities.

I thought I remembered the Bucs having trouble selling tickets, so I did a google search. I'm too lazy to see if they had trouble with ticket sales during the regular season, but I they did have trouble selling out tickets to a playoff game. That's not good.

You are right Freddy, the gators are huge in Jax and I travel there often and most fans prefer the gators to the Jags. Many have said if they get offered Jags or Gators tickets they take the Gators. People only have so much money to spend on sports tickets.

Another factor in Fla is that there is so much do do there in Nov & Dec. When most in the northeast have no choice but to sit inside (or outside) and watch football because the weather sucks, people in Fla can be out playing golf, tennis, motorcycle ride, etc. Once again more competition for the limited amount of disposable income.

The formula I have heard for an NFL franchise is that the TV money pays the players and the ticket sales and concessions pay the owners. If ticket sales are down the owners of those teams are not making money. That doesnt sound like a gravy train to me.

Not to defend tough ticket sells, but there are a number of clubs that struggle with Wild Card games. Had they made it to the divisional round (yeah, right) and struggled, then I’d agree. Ten straight years of sellouts is ten straight years and that is impressive. I was taking issue with the statement(s) that pro football in Florida is a loser and I pointed out that blanket statements like that can easily be contradicted, as it was.
