Re: Proud of the team for this season

without joe gibbs this team and organization would be in shambles with what they have had to deal with this year. i,m proud to say the least and seeing this team still in the hunt says something right there and they know it too.

this is what seperates the skins fans from all others in my book.

I'm seriously bummed out about Rocky. In some weird ass way, I'm more bummed about him being out for the remainder of the year than JC. I know they're two different injuries, Rocky's being the worse, but here's a guy who has a lot of upside and the defense really needs him, I think.

I mean, what else can happen?

Re: Proud of the team for this season

I'm also very proud of the team. They've had to overcome more than any team I can remember from injuries to major players, a whole offensive line included, starting a "rookie" QB with great success and the death of one of their best players, perhaps one of the best in football on defense.

They're still .500 and in the playoff hunt. Despite all of the insane, mutiny-like cries from fans not looking at the whole picture, Coach Gibbs has done a great job at keeping the team motivated, focused on games and goals and playing through adversity they'd never imagine having to face. I'm glad Coach Gibbs was here to lead the team, I doubt any other coach could've done as good of a job considering all of the circumstances.

Like his playcalling or not, he's a true leader and shows what it really means to be a Washington Redskin that never gives up.

NO doubt, I wanted Gibbs back regardless of what's happened in the last few weeks, but given what they've been through, Joe has earned a lot of good faith from everybody.

No one wants to go through that type of tragedy, but Sean's death & the injuries that have hit us this year, may have built this team's unity. There is always something positive to come from tragedy, no matter how hard it is to overcome. Gibbs deserves a lot of credit as does everyone else in the organization.

This season might be looked back at as a turning point for the franchise. I think the experiences of this year will stick with Snyder et al forever, and having Gibbs essentially as a role model will to.

I'm bummed too, but I think JC's being out is going to have a more detrimental impact on the team...
tc played great on thursday in relief, but that tends to happen when a backup qb comes off the bench, and often it takes a week for reality to sink in... that this guy was on the bench for a reason.

In terms of Rocky, his play had been on the decline through the end of the season and I believe that godfrey is going to be available, along with blades and campbell (who tied the team for the lead in tackles and got amazing penetration on the huge andre carter 10 yd loss sack) so I don't think there will be a huge dropoff in linebacker performance.

If the Saints win out they take our place as the sixth slot or we need the Giants to loose their last 2 games. So yes we do have to cheer for other teams.

Some of those mistakes (double timeout) were caused by grieving and not having your head on straight.
Well using Bellichick is a very bad example. He had two years back in 2001 & 2003 where he had over 40 different starters. If I'm correct they had WR's playing corner one year or may be it was a corner playing WR.

I think we have to credit to Joe Gibbs for holding the ship together, the players for fighting through the adversity, and to the backups who have stepped in and contributed.

Well done across the board.

I do agree with you. imagine that! I think it shows the character that has been built at Redskin park. To Joe's credit, he has kept the guys fighting and playing hard. A lot of teams would have packed it in with some of those really hard losses. Joe seems like the grandfather that you never want to let down, so these guys keep digging.
Guys like Samuels, Jansen, Thomas, Daniels, London, Marcus, Smoot all seem to keep everyone on the same page and competing week in and week out.

Troy Brown.

That season still doesn't compare to ours.

This has probably been the most painful year to be a Skins fan, but here we are with three straight nationally televised games at the end of the season fighting for a playoff spot, Hell yeah I'm proud. Hail to the Skins!!!!

Re: Proud of the team for this season

It's like Mark Schlereth said after Taylor's death (and Boswell repeated in his column yesterday), people would jump in front of trucks for Gibbs. The guys on his NASCAR team that I talk to all say the same thing as well. That he's the best motivator they've ever been around. He knows what to say and when to say it to each and every person.

But it's not just him. The whole team has stepped up in a big way. And it goes back to what a lot of us had been saying for months, if not years. The players are taking responsibility for their actions, and are playing with more of a purpose than we've seen in a long time.

No team has ever had to face what the Redskins did this year, and I hope no team will ever have to again. The way everyone from Snyder all the way down to Torrence has handled it has been remarkable.

And yes I realize Torrence is pretty awful, but he's been put in a position he probably never should have been in this year anyway.

It was mainly WR and CB for them plus they have Tom Brady, for us is everything OL, WR, DB, S, LB, DT, you can't win like that and Joe is making it happen.

could not agree more...

If someone told me two 1/2 weeks ago that we'd 7-7 I'd have laughed. We've shown some true character lately and it gives me hope going forward.
